Locomotive Annie wrote:The box is slightly crumpled, but still nice and clean and not faded so it's definitely a keeper. I can see that I'm going to have to figure out a way to safely store old set boxes and other 'paper' materials such as catalogs, instruction sheets and the like now that I'm getting more of them.
No plans to pass on this set box at the moment Kaila, but should I decided I want to I'll keep your name at the top of the list.
Speaking of such things have you seen the 7777 ideas book? It's a pretty nice collectible and can usually be gotten for less than $50 in good nick (got mine from Austria for $38 ), Will post pics one day in this thread since forgot all about it.

I've only seen on-line copies Kaila, but yes I would love to own a copy of my own. Perhaps I might be able to stretch my Lego budget for March to let me buy one. It's really nice having the 1980 12volt catalog for all the neat pictures, but a 7777 Ideas Book would be the icing on the cake.

Re: What I bought today
That's really lovely Brickie. Nothing like a circus train to put a smile on your face.
There is a loco shed in the 7777 book that I'd like to try building for the Kotanga Tramway as well as heaps of other good ideas that as you say are adaptable to all the Lego train systems. It would be good if Lego would publish an updated version, but I suppose that isn't very likely to happen since trains aren't exactly a big market drawcard for them these days.

I always wanted to build the circus train shown towards the end of this book.
A few years ago, a modified circus train appeared.
The old 4.5 train bases make a realistic clacking sound as they go over the 9V track.
That is really sweet Brickie! Not sure how but that clown sticker on the side rings a bell but cant quite remember what set from >_< It's indeed a nice colourful train
Re: What I bought today
Here's the only set I picked up whilst in Japan.. Got it from an official Lego shop in a factory outlet area.

I like the little castle and for some reason the guy reminds me of the original 1st castle people from the late 70's. I still want to buy that original big yellow castle, my dealer had it but was like $300 (perfect boxed condition) but I had train priorities so didn't purchase. Btw I saw this 5929 set in a shop called BIC Camera for $8. They claim to have all Lego always at 33% off retail price and they seem to hold true to it as all those photo's I showed previously were from there.
Re: What I bought today
Wow, the yellow castle is the holy grail of all Lego castles, I admire your restraint in not buying it.
I'm sure I saw a little castle set similar to 5929 in one of the stationery shops around here. I must go look and see if it's still there.

That little castle set is sold at Big W & K Mart, I bought the set for my nephew a couple of years ago and I have seen it a few time since. If I was into castle lego I would have bought a few of them, the set is only $15.

Re: What I bought today
During the past seven days I have spent a massive amount of dollars in buying bricks and pieces I need to build a Cafe Corner, City Hall, National Bank and New York Browstone which are from bought instructions.
Whatever is left over is likely to be put into my airport and shopping centre that features a McDonalds Modular Building MOC which I have started to build as well.
Plenty on the go but nothing is finished as yet

Re: What I bought today
I often browse Brickset and click onto Ebay to find what is available in both Custom Made Buildings and instructions
Browsing google is another good option as well !!!

Re: What I bought today
Wow, those Harry Potter sets look amazing Snaplock.
I purchased the 3932 Friends 'Andrea's Stage' set. I was in one of the shops down in the township and i saw the set all by itself amongst a pile of Cogo, Knex and Mega Bloks Halo sets. 'Please take me home with you,' the lonely Friends set seemed to whisper to me, - so i did

Re: What I bought today
Nothing beats the original Ninja Turtle cartoons, they were the 'In Thing' when I was a kid, raced home every afternoon to watch the show at 4pm. I was Donatello in our school gang, we thought we were the coolest kids in school.
^ The set above kinda looks confusing, maybe its just busy, doesn't grab my attention anyway.

Got this one a while back but I forgot to post. A bit rough condition though.

Wow! seriously nice Kaila. I suppose if you take into account the set's age and the fact that it was intended to be a child's toy, it's remarkable that it managed to survive in such good condition at all.
