Re: What I bought today
I envy you Kalia21 as I do like the old sets from the 1980's and the beginning of my teenage years
Re: What I bought today
Your are showing your age 'FS' !
I go to Galaxy Toys every now and again to buy a classic town...usually just a small vehicle set.

Do you have 377 Shell service station in your collection ?
I actually had to leave 377 out of the incoming order due to weight and money restraints (Will get it eventually). The following 2 Shell servo's from the 80's are in it though.
Re: What I bought today
Dam, I would hate to see the MISB price for a 377 ?

Re: What I bought today
I'm close to one particular seller in the Netherlands and he was offering 377 to me in perfect condition for 70eu. I've bought a lot from him and he has like a whole Lego store in his house it's unbelievable, he always takes many pics to show the exact condition of the sets (which is usually very good) and he charges me a fair price since I've become a regular.
Keep in mind this isn't a 'New' set though, it's used but in 100% complete and in perfect nick. Here's one of the pics he sent me of the box-

Re: What I bought today
i think i had one of them as well. i think my dad liked lego, and bought us a lot of sets. i had a whole town layout when i was 5 that he built on a large pineboard in the spare room, it was the size of half a bedroom.
i still have the shell bowsers with rope hoses.

Why don't you use this old topic to discuss it instead of creating something new, https://aussielegofans.forummotion.com/t536-rare-sets#7795

And a few town sets came as well.
There's something about those windowed sets that I TRULY adore. It's so nice to be able to lift the cover and see whats inside without opening the box. Do these window type boxes even exist on any sets nowadays? I never see them if they do and it's kind of abyssal IMO to be very blunt about it.
I would love to have a list of all the windowed sets and I'd make them a priority for collecting. I wonder if any sites have such a list??
In my lifetime (definitely since around 2003 when I turned into a LEGO fanatic) I've never come across a boxed window set. They may have the little 'try me' insert for a sound/light brick, but nothing like that. They look far nicer than some of the boxes these days.

Personally I really love the windowed sets since it's nice to just open the lid and see the neat arrangement of figures and parts in the encasing and then the bags spread around neatly underneath. It exhumes quality and perhaps Lego ditched it as a way to cut costs? I don't actually play with my sets as much as I collect them so it's really nice to be able to view a box in this 'windowed' way (maybe I sound crazy now lol). Another thing about those windowed sets is their structure is strong because of the trays, liners and plastic supports. I've found some recent train sets like 3677 getting bent really easily since there's only really spread out bags inside. I really need an 80's list of windowed sets to chase down
Re: What I bought today
Perhaps you should post in the town forum your collection of gas station sets.....you should try for the rarest....the 1980 Exxon gas station !

Re: What I bought today
Exxon... tell me about it... I was keen to try and get at least one of these Exxon sets but wow are they expensive! Most likely will get the tanker but as far as the petrol station is concerned there seems to be not a lot of choice in the market and currently Brasletty has the only complete offering. I refuse to buy anything from Brasletty on account of her insane efforts to over inflate the market. One day I'll find a copy it will just take a little time.Lightningtiger wrote:Perhaps you should post in the town forum your collection of gas station sets.....you should try for the rarest....the 1980 Exxon gas station !

Re: What I bought today
Well today is my b'day and these sets turned up Friday on the doorstep but since I've been out since Friday morning and only just arrived home today then it feels like getting a present ^^
Strangely I received the red fire truck for my birthday 24 years ago.. I still had my own original box but somehow all the pieces went missing, so I bought just the set without a box and it's in great nick. Looks good in my original box I think!
Also I received 8050 as a present back when I was like 6 years old. I still actually have the original pieces although many are broken and damaged. I'm very happy to receive it again today in it's complete boxed form!
Still have my original box for the Police light & sound as well, so will be getting the pieces for that set soon..

Gee, you like your old school M.IS.B. stuff ?
Now I didn't think any 3179 lighting repair trucks were left after almost 2 and half years !

Had a whole truckload of stuff arrive in the post today but will wait until the file-host is up again before posting the pics. For anyone else having problems uploading pics don't worry I've looked into it and Servimg are doing maintenance.

Re: What I bought today
Managed to actually pick up a good deal on Ebay last week and the package arrived today. 32 boxed sets of assorted train for $750. Most of the boxes are in good condition including foam trays and inserts, there's even loose track thrown in for good measure! I have a few doubles now of the various carriage sets.
Also my $122 train arrived from Amazon. And below that is a sports and Exoforce set that came.
