Re: BLTG challenge
I love the plane Anita; you are so creative.
BLTG was fortunate to be given a quantity of Lego parts from Lego Australia. For this we are extremely grateful.
Each member of BLTG was given a large box of these pieces and given the task of building a MOC from these parts; there is a 5% allowance for flowers, minifigs, etc. The MOC can be as large as members like and it can be on any theme.
So far we have a plane, a bunch of sunflowers, a ski lift and ????.
BLTG is having a meeting on 24th September at BricksnFun starting at 6pm.
Entrance is by MOC.
There will be prizes for the most creative entry.
We will all vote to determine the winner.
Some of the email comments today have been very competitive; there is a lot of pride riding on this.
Once we evaluate the creative uses of limited Lego elements, BLTG will then plan what major project we can undertake as a group to utilize the rest of the gift.

Re: BLTG challenge
This is really cool. Hoping to get mine soon (Thanks Gary @ Bricks N Fun)
I do alot of MOC sets for animation but I've never actually tried a task under pressure as such haha.
I'd love to go to the meeting but I have to work Fri and Sat nights, people need to eat....
I will post my creations as soon as I do them :D

I claim not to have the unfair advantage... I have the human tornado 'assisting' me (she even steam rolled my steam roller).

Re: BLTG challenge
taipan,
I'm sure that you will 'strike' out at any moment and 'seize' the opportunity
"Fangs' for letting us know that you are ready to 'pounce'.
I'm sure that your elements will 'slither' into place and you will put the 'sting' on the competition.

Re: BLTG challenge
Anita,
Competition rule 47 para ii clause 3 states;- " Extra points may be awarded if the judges find that you have constructed under duress."
You should hope for a sympathetic judging panel.

Re: BLTG challenge
Brickie...
Oh and my son is still sick, so I might build something else today, my goal is to get 10 different builds. (I tried a car, using the steering wheels as wheels, but it was a complete failure).

Re: BLTG challenge
Thanks Anita, so much, for leading the way in demonstrating what can be done with a limited variety of Lego elements.
I look forward to seeing the finished product on 24/9.

Re: BLTG challenge
Hello All
This is proving to be a difficult challenge...but I have been working through some ides and have made a start. Clearly, Anita has lots of great ideas and way too much time on her hands and I for one do not expect to be on the winners podium. However, given its lego its all about taking part(s) and getting together with other nutters who are short a few pieces in the polybag.

Re: BLTG challenge
Marcus... I have quantity, not so much of the quality. So I expect there will be some that are far better than my builds.

Re: BLTG challenge
BLTG Challenge Update:
I had a great idea come to me early Friday morning, then had to wait all day to get home from work to put it into action. After working until late last night, and most of the day today I have largely finished my MOC creation for the challenge and am pretty happy with it.
I am quietly confident that no one else will have somthing similar which is always a good start. I will also have to tighten security in case of espionage attempts from the nefarious spartans...you just cannot trust them!!!
The worst part now is that I have to wait another 2 weeks before the meeting....time to tinker some more I guess!
Regards
Marcus

Re: BLTG challenge
*Tries to guess what my opponents are building*
I have started my proper build, Matt will have to take it (if it is successful) I am on toddler duty.

Re: BLTG challenge
Thank you all for revealing your status in the BLTG challenge.
I am so confident of victory that I have stopped building for a while to allow the others to catch up.
So far, I have placed 5 1x3 blue tiles on a 48x48 baseplate.
It may need some further embellishment but I am pretty close to perfection.
Spartans do feature in this MOC; only 5% of course.

Re: BLTG challenge
Is 5% Spartan the equivalent of a Belgian tourist wearing flip flops on Mykonos.
That I want to see in MOC form, sure winner.

Re: BLTG challenge
Anita,
Any MOC I build must be protected by a disciplined army of Spartan soldiers in case of attack from those uncivilised hoards from the North called Vikings.
Spartan intelligence is picking up a lot of chatter about 24/9 from unnamed sources.
We believe that Belgian tourists wearing nothing at all will not be noticed by our security. [They tend to wear very dark glasses]
