Re: What I bought today
im going to go with s@h (lego shop). it's not the cheapest, but it's direct from them, and i've been looking around the web, the US is now selling them online, but it's not worth the expense. it's a closer price match with this set, and with all the insurance/freight costs IMO you lose getting it from there. im just going to keep it simple, buy direct from lego, and start earning some VIP points.
btw, to keep it on topic, i bought 5 baseplates and another town hall today (to break down for parts).

Re: What I bought today
The frustrating thing I have found with LEGO S@H is you can only purchase items by credit card which turned me away as I aint one for using such cards !!!

Yeah, i will do the same.
In the last 10 months I have made 7 orders from LEGO Shop@home, I've not had any problems.

Re: What I bought today
I didn't buy today, but since I don't post here often I thought I should update my Xmas purchases.
When the news of the Horizon Express leaked I decided to buy a couple of Maersk trains, rightly guessing they'd be discontinued and jump in price. I bought them from a German bricklink store.
Then a couple of weeks later David Jones had 20% off and free shipping from their online shop and had the Pet Shop and Town Hall modulars in stock. The stars were aligned so I couldn't resist
You can get a one use 'debit card' from Aussie Post, you just buy it for whatever amount you need.

Re: What I bought today
Today i bought Lego the Hobbit an -Unexpected-Gathering-79003 for $70
I think for $70 is ok for what you get, still over priced but i guess we are paying for the LOTR license. i would have been very disappointed if i had paid RRp of $119
this is one of the few lego sets ive looked at after building it and thought to myself "WOW I spent $70 on that "

Re: What I bought today
yesterday, I went to Myer at Carindale for their sale.
The toy manager bought out an unopened box of series 9 from which I could choose.
Whilst feeling my way through the packets, another BrisBricks member turned up and gave me a hand to pick a set of 16.
They worked out at $3.30 each.
Alas, this morning, they were opened by my granddaughters and I had a double; uurrrggghhh! I had two Fortune tellers and no Judge.
Today I was out Logan way and I dropped into the hyperdome.
Mr Toys had S9 for $4 each. When I started to feel some packets, the lady asked me which one I was after. A young fellow came up behind the counter and opened a display case and took out a judge; $4 thank you.
Wow! I was blown away by the great service in both shops.
