Well its time i get started on this project i have been putting off for over a year now.

This time last year i picked up the new lego Airport kit from k-mart to do a review on after i was done i was going to build a bigger and better airport 10 times the size of this kit i didn't get to far legorolleyes the roof was a pain to design as at the time i was 1. moving 2.had limited bricks to prototype with to test it out.

when the new lego train kits come out i found the slope bricks on the crossing was what i was looking for the design.
so here is the first prototype photo's of the walls and roof

Airport side

Airport front

just a note this is a prototype not the model and any comments on how i could make it higher as i got to place doors and gates yet in this design would help.

I will try to keep you all up date on this as this is my project for my youtube channel.

P.S. check out my MOC comp i am running all this year were you can win $100 giftcard Brick Loft e2 s1LEGO catalog and comps I will let people here entry with out subscribing as this my fave LEGO forum.

Looking good! Those roof slopes are indeed good parts for airport roofs, when I was in Kuala Lumpur International Airport I discovered some really groovy roof work. Check this link: http://www.the-afc.com/uploads/afc/website/Sport_and_Medicine_Conference/klia_interior.jpg

My suggestion is that you make the ground floor (tarmac level) 7 brick high pillars, so you can have baggage carts etc. underneath. Then you can put a brick between each of the window sections to increase the height a little there too. Good luck with this project, I'm looking forward to following it!

P.S. Thanks for the offer for our forum members! I'm already subscribed to you on Facebook, but that's really good of you to extend that offer to the ANZFOL members. legohappy

I just work out how to make the roof here is a beam it's missing 1 set of 2 tracks as i only have 4 pieces of track to prototype with.
Airport roof
it will be set 3-4 window frames apart from each beam still working out how to set it on top of the building yet.

well back to work i go more updates soon.

I'm sure you could get away with just sitting it on the rest of the building which would probably be ideal anyway as that allows access to the interior. What's your budget on this project, window parts are not cheap!

Well here is my update
Today i have started to test out the front in 1/10 scale this will be build in to 160x32 studs or 5 of 32x32 base boards side by side

1/10 test of the airport

on the other side will have the gates made on 32x16 base boards with baggage area under the gates.

all the taxiways and runways will be custom made with flat plates (yer it will cost alot but who cares lol) so it has a more real look then the road base plates LEGO makes.

Next update i should have it done in LDD and then the brick ordering will start lol.

this will sit on the top for easy access to the inside of the model.
