Hi xwfalc,
Its good to see another train type. I'll eagerly await your photos. I'm into trains too, I'm currently working on a roundhouse and turntable for an exhibition here in Vic. I'll post pics when its nearer completion.
This forum is still in its early days so all contributions are very welcome. There are a few of us who post regularly, but not enough yet for the forum to be full of lively hustle and bustle. Feel free to start a thread or two.

I have seen his work, his trains in particular are detailed and incredibly accurate. I will have to see if I can get him to share soon.

Re: Through the haze....a newbie appears!
I should give some info on the train....
The balck one is a 484 Mountain/ Northern class (depends if aussie or yank here!) She is a South Aussie 520 class, and is the lead train of her class. Named Sir Malcom Barclay Harvey, originally painted in black and silver, she was running in green and gold here on the Steam Ranger tourist line up until late 1990's. Sadly she is now no longer in service and needs many $$ to get her running again.
This lego version took around 3-4 months of design and build time. It contains around 900 parts and is built using the 8 stud wide technique.

Re: Through the haze....a newbie appears!
yes actually, its known as a steam engine
Sorry...that was too easy to leave alone.
I just build them for static display as most of my stuff spends more time sitting than playing. I could motorise it, i would make it battery operable, but for now....nah.

Re: Through the haze....a newbie appears!
I'm not entirely sure what the venue is, but I think it's pretty close to Flinders Street Station. There are a few details over in this thread and you can find the official website of the event here.
Re: Through the haze....a newbie appears!

Re: Through the haze....a newbie appears!
You should certainly come up! A number of us will be there, it would be great to meet you. And what could be better than a weekend of talking about LEGO without your family telling you to shut up?
Re: Through the haze....a newbie appears!
they gave up telling me to shut up years ago! Now they just shake thier heads and walk away! ::
