2010 Brickvention.
Brickvention is Australia’s premier LEGO convention.
Brickvention is a convention for (AFOLs) adult fans of Lego. The focus being to have fans bring their favorite creations, often referred to as MOCs (aka My Own Creations), to display and share with fellow enthusiasts.
Like other conventions it offers workshops, presentations, special events and challenges.
The event celebrates the coming together of the fan community that has evolved as a result of the Internet and exploring and developing the Lego hobby.
The 2010 Brickvention will be held over the on January 23rd to 24th in Melbourne, Australia.
- Saturday 23rd of January is for registered attendees only,
- The Public Expo is open to everybody on Sunday 24th of January, 2010.
We’re all really excited about the event and can’t wait to meet lots of other AFOLs from all over Australia and around the world, and is open to everybody.
So are any of you planning on going? I should be there, who else?

Re: Brickvention 2010 - Are you going?
I'm not sure if Blocksford is quite big enough to warrant a representation, but we can sure take some MOCs from it. :Tychop wrote:and me and Zuloo can be there to represent Blocksford

I think ANZFOL might be even too small :
Remember to take pics.

Gee you're slow DL... Blocksford is a train layout that we displayed earlier this year. Don't you read Eurobricks?

Re: Brickvention 2010 - Are you going?
Since I live in Melbourne and am a mugs member I'll be going to Brickvention 2010. I went last year for the first time and had a good time. If you register you'll get a name badge printed on a lego brick. It's quite trendy to have your sig-fig on top of your name badge so remember to bring him/her/it along

For any of the train fans, I'm pretty sure the Melbourne Lego Train Club will be displaying our current layout,. If you bring a train Moc along I'm sure we could find time to give them a run.

Re: Brickvention 2010 - Are you going?
Oooh, that sounds fun. If I were closer to Melbourne, I'd bring my layout down, but it's a bit far to bring everything.

I was cornered by the Brickvention commitee at the last Mugs meeting (there's a lot of overlap) and asked if I'd be the Town co-ordinator for BV. It basically means allocating space for the Mocs and who goes where etc.
Anyhow as I was reading some of the past messages on the Brickvention commitees mailing list I stumbled on one which was disscussing links to Lego fan sites. I'm sure if you asked nicely they'd add ANZFOL.
ETA: I was just on the Brickvention site and submitted a link to here so I'll keep an eye on it to see if it goes up.

Registrations are now open for Brickvention 2010!
Brickvention is Australia’s own LEGO convention and it’s only a few months away so now is the time to register for the event.
Brickvention 2010 will be held over the weekend just before Australia Day (January 22nd to 24th) in Melbourne, Australia and promises to be an exciting event.
Following on from the success of the previous years, there will be new competitions, presentations, demonstrations and lots of interesting things to see and do.
MOC competitions for 2010 include:
· Best in Show
· Modular Houses
· Town Layouts
· Trains
· Castle
· Space
· Moonbases
· Other (doesn’t fit into any other category)
Apart from the awesome MOC display, there will be some old and new competitions; trade tables and a special Brickvention Set inspired by Princess Mary of Denmark.
We have twice the display space for 2010 so make sure you register early to guarantee enough room for your MOCs, dioramas and sets. We want this to be the best Brickvention ever!
The organising committee are all really excited about the event and can’t wait to meet lots of other AFOLs from all over Australia and around the world.
