My Australia post rant Empty My Australia post rant

Post by Kaila Thu 16 Aug 2012, 1:26 pm

So has anyone else ever caught out bloody Australia Post NOT doing their jobs in delivering parcels to the house? All day I was home and my bedroom is right near the front door with a view to the driveway and letterbox. At 4pm I check my orders tracking number on their website and they magically claim that delivery was attempted at 2:25pm but nobody was home and that they left a note in the box... B******T! Nobody came to the door, nobody came to the house , and there was NO note whatsoever to be found anywhere.

So I ring the main number and she got onto the driver and their excuse is 'they had lots of orders today' and I'll have to go to the parcel pickup center myself tomorrow at my own expense and inconvenience.

So am I to gather it's okay for Australia Post to lie and claim 'attempted delivery' just because they had lots of orders? Is that what I'm to determine from catching them out..

It's not the first time this has happened either..

Anyway that's my rant of annoyance, hope you guys do actually get your deliveries arriving like they should.

I have had The Aus Post Parcel Postie just drop the attempted to deliver slip in the letter box and drive off, she didn't even get out of the van. guess she was late for her morning coffee.

I've heard similar stories from work, some of our customers call us and say they were home all day to find out a card had been left in the letterbox. It can be quite annoying and unprofessional.

There's also been the odd case of couriers delivering things to the office but have just entered into their computer that no one was present! We've busted them doing this by checking the web tracking. Seriously the office is manned between 9am-6pm, how can no one be here!? The excuse is they were short on time and had to wait for the afternoon run but I would rather they not update anything on their system if it's not accurate. Better to leave the status as "With Driver" or whatever rather than make the recipient worry.

In all fairness given I've been receiving so many imports of late the delivery man has become a real regular at my place and even can recognize me out in the street lol. These days if I don't answer the front door he automatically comes around the back and knocks there and if still no reply he leaves the parcel in a slightly concealed area. I trust him so it's all good legowink

Of course we both discussed him using this method, he didn't just go ahead on his own and initiate it lol

Yeah, the driver in our area is pretty good except sometimes I see him handling "fragile" items in a fairly casual way! legorolleyes

But the main thing is, as long as it arrives undamaged I would be happy.

My rant isn't over the poor delivery of incoming purchases which I add hasn't happened to me as yet but more the cost of sending a parcel to other parts of the world.

I've tried on two occasions to send a Collectable Minifigure Case and found out that the cost is the biggest turn off to a potential sale such as today when I was quoted $30.00 to send one to New Zealand.

How do they get away with charging those sorts of prices legounsure

Yeah that's true, it really negates the savings/discount on the item.

I've had the same problem with stuff coming from USA, not really worthwhile if it's coming by USPS. Unless it's a hard to find item...

I just had my 3225 train come via Fedex economy for $30 from the states, I was really happy with their tracking and 5 day delivery compared to many I've been subjected to using.

Out of all the carriers so far I've had the best experience with DHL and Fedex. The rest were either slow, unreliable or expensive.
