The Brisbane Lego Train Group will have their next display at the Miniature Train Club-Gold Coast model train show at Ashmore on the 23-24 July.

We will have a similar display to the previous two shows this year but we are all making an effort to make this the best as we should have a record crowd to view the display.

BLTG should also set a record for the most number of members attending a show. By all indications, we are hoping that 18 members will display or assist during the weekend.

I am sure it will be an awesome display as usual. Depending on how my shoulder operation recovery goes I might be able to pop down. Tara

We will be down there (it was a great excuse to stay down there for the weekend).

We have the basics of our part of the display set up at home, just working on some of the details.

When I re-read my initial post on this topic, I realized that there could be some confusion with, "BLTG should also set a record for the most number of members attending a show."

I meant a record number of BLTG members at a show; not a world record.

I'm sure that other groups in Australia get dozens of members attending shows.

looking good for your section.

I wonder if you can automate the people on the seats to move their heads as a train goes by.

I have seen this done somewhere and it is a great effect.

The slot car track will return for the Gold Coast show and will run around the modular buildings and in front of the hospital.

The slot cars have now been modified to be the characters from 'Cars 2'.

My train is safe and done at Bricks n Fun and doing the rounds around BLTG old display till Friday after noon looks good pulling about 7 cars and it's running real good.

I gave my train a name the other day the Bricklander like sunlander/westlander trains we have in Queensland.

got 12 more cars to build and add a 2nd motor to the train what i hope to be done by the start of next year.

Can't wait to see it in action on the weekend.

Great choice of a name; I love it: The Bricklander.

Over the years, I have travelled on most of these trains.

Have you got a dining car and a baggage car?

The 'Inlander' sticks in my memory.

After a weekend of sport in Charters Towers, I was bringing 30 children back to Townsville on the 'Inlander'.

We arrived at the station at 12:15 to catch the 12:40 train.

There was the notice that said that the train was 2 hours late; not another soul was to be seen around the station.

Now this is the days before mobile phones so I had to leave the 30 kids at the station whilst I found a working phone box in Charters Towers.

After an hour, a car drove up, a lady got out, walked over to the notice, changed it to 4 hours, and drove off.

Not a word was said.

Another trip back to the phone box and more calls.

Eventually the 'Inlander' pulled in and 30 very hungry children boarded.

In pairs, the children went down to the dining car and came back with something to eat and drink.

Eventually, this tired and hungry old bloke went down and asked for a steak and salad and a BEER; 'Sorry, we have run out of steak'.

OK, I'll have a hamburger and a BEER; 'Sorry, we have run out of patties'.

OK, I'll have a pie and a BEER; 'Sorry, you can't have a beer as a pie is not a meal and you can only have a beer with a meal.'

To make matters worse, we crawled in through South Townsville at such a slow speed that a push bike sped past us.

One of those memorable train trips.

Of course, this would NEVER happen on a LEGO train.

Those minifigs are always well fed and the trains always run on time.

The Miniature Train Club-Gold Coast are over the moon with the attendance at their show; they doubled last year's numbers through the door. They also did their own catering so the treasurer is a very happy camper.

BLTG had a great time as the constant cry of ' L E G O ! " filled the hall.

It is interesting to note the number of grandparents who commented about the large variety of elements and colours available today; not just the regular bricks that they bought for their kids.

Photos can be found in the gallery @ http://www.bltg.org/index.html
