Hey guys I'm just wondering where most of us get the bulk of our new Lego from as I've found some bargains on Ebay from time to time and if others do they can share them here. Do people buy direct from Lego.com, major retailers or Ebay?

Anyway here's a couple I thought were decent value...

I tend to buy from the big retailers during sales, or from Lego.com in the US since their prices are much cheaper than ours (you need to use a US remailer). If I need individual bricks for a project I use Bricklink.

Hi

I've bought stuff from Ebay,

couple of points..

Ebay can be a good source of discontinued lines as well as 2nd hand sets that are rare.

Although be prepared for varying quality of brick conditions with 2nd hand sets.

Its always good to double check and email them to make sure all the pieces are there and especially the minifigs.

I've noticed a lot of the bulk lots especially if they are in the large KG bulk lots like 10-20kg of bulk lego will get pulled before auction. No doubt a serious collector has approached the seller with an offer too good to refuse. depending on your keeness you could do it too.

Items that are priced well, will get snapped up in less than a day, especially some juicy priced star wars sets. Sometimes buy it nows are set quite low and get snatched as soon as they are listed.

There are a massive amount of EBAY LEGO sellers who regularly list items. Trawling through these items can be so time consuming especially the ones who list the same thing 10 times. A quick and easy way is to exclude these sellers from your search.
-my ebay
-organise
-saved searches
- add a new search ( right hand side of toolbar)

- have LEGO as keyword search
- then towards the bottom you can exclude sellers.
only show items from (tick)
specific sellers change to exclude
then type each seller seperated by a comma or space.
It will take a while to weed out all the usual suspects but at the end of the day you'll see lego that will come through from one off sellers or sellers you like, without all the other profiteers and element sellers.

good luck

I find eBay is good for finding the rare but not the cheap. The best place for cheap Lego is .................

Exactly, it just doesn't exist. Having said that, I bought a Metroliner on eBay for $150, 100% complete plus heaps of extra parts (speed regulator).

Hehehe, you got me all wrong ................. means I'm not going to tell. It's a secret. I have also had the ever so occasional bargin on Ebay. Like guymontag said. Get some auto searches going for what your looking for and keep monitoring. It may take awhile but you can save some money. Just don't expect to find Batman Mini-figs that sell for $1.

Hmmm speaking of Batman Lego I'm thinking of selling all of mine. Think I have the full collection apart from the Killer Croc set.
They just seem to be getting great prices...

LEGO BATMAN 7781 - THE BATMOBILE TWO FACES ESCAPE

Lego - Batman - Arkham Asylum - Set 7785 - NEW IN BOX!

LEGO BATMAN SET 7779 - DRAGSTER - CATWOMAN PURSUIT

Arkham Asylum.... hahaha .... I don't want to brag but its ironic that the first Lego set I bought for the kids that wasn't Duplo was a damaged box Arkham Asylum at TRU for a princely sum of $15. I thought, can't go wrong for $15 even though the kids aren't old enough for this sort of Lego. This was going back 4 years or 5 years ago. Definitely wasn't AFOL then, just looking for bargain toys for Xmas and birthdays for the kids. I still got Arkham Asylum but the kids have lost Scarecrows head. Batman's a bit worse for wear.

Except that you were trying to pocket a profit on the basis of the work that many here have done to create this site, which would have diverted that money away from this site. Any potential income could be used to keep this site running, so by denying it to us, you would hurt everyone that values this site.

I value and enjoy this site as well but the links I put up were/are worth about $1 AUD a day. There were no affiliate links from this place in place so I wasn't denying the site any revenue at all.

K, no probs. legohappy

I listed the Batman/Mr Freeze set tonight. So much stuff I want to keep but I'll never have the space for it all and raising kids is damned costly so I'm keeping Classic Space, Star Wars and Castle only. I have four rather large Castle armies and want to build a large castle for them to besiege. In the coming weeks and months I'll be listing things like the Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, Green Grocer and other Batman sets.
