My XMas MOC Empty My XMas MOC

Post by Brickton Mon 14 Nov 2011, 9:51 am

Hello All

Brisbane Lego Train Group held an XMas MOC meeting on the weekend....after some encouragement I decided to post my creation. I decided Santa had to have a new transport option to give his reindeer a well earned break...thus Rudolf the Red Nosed Airship was born!

This is only my second MOC since coming back into the light. I am sure you will note the use of the set 4954 as the base house, although I have modified it somewhat to suit the scene. I have also been inspired by the posts on Eurobricks, particularly Derfel's posts which have been inspiring. The airship and the gondola (suspended ship beneath) are completely built from scratch although must admit did get the idea of the airship from the Lego Ideas Book which had a balloon model which was fantastic, and made use of selected minifigs that I have collected over time.

I had originally planned to do a full interior of the house, but I ran out of time, and it was already over 4000 pieces so just had to stop o.O . The Red Nose does light up when a switch is applied and I should also add there are LED lights around the stern of the gondola boat. They do not come up in the light very well so I will have to see if I can take a picture in the dark to have them show up. Lastly, the airship antlers were suggested by my better half who is also very supportive, and talented legohappy .

Any suggestions ideas, comments and constructive feedback are always welcome.

That's quite an awesome idea, I like the use of the elf minifigs as Santa's helpers.

I was just admiring this in the other thread (The BLTG one).

This is awesome. Really clever and well executed.
