That's a pretty awesome looking train shieldzee1. Great first post and welcome to ANZFOL. I particularly like containers under the floor. Have you checked the clearance when it's on tracks, it looks like it could be a pretty tight fit. The look great though. Be sure to come back and post more pics as you go. I'm looking forward to it.
You might want to start an introduction thread in the community forum and tell us a bit about yourself, where you're from, if you are in any Lego clubs etc. It's always nice to have another train fan around here.

Being Tasmanian I don't get the whole train/tram thing ( we dont have many really ) but I can appreciate the design of your model and I must say it looks the bussiness hope to see more from you in the future. As Peterab said above please let us know a bit about your LEGO story.
And enjoy this great forum!

Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
Welcome! Train looks fantastic! I'm not entirely sure about those boxy things on the top though. The reason I say that is that your train is already quite tall, and looking at some photos of the real deal, they seem a bit too tall to be proportionally accurate. Still, the train looks great, and as Peterab said, the containers underneath are a great idea. Please keep us all updated on the progress!
P.S. are you Bricklinking the parts or S@H?

Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
god this is a pain to do i have now cut out 2 windows in the middle it was too long battery box is gone and i am going to order in the cargo train as it has most of the stuff I need to make it run and its just under 1/3 the price of the full set.
only need the train to get rest of the front done then its in to full building mode to do dummy train and the middle power car (non powered lol) refining design to minimize my bricks that are used.

Nice model you got there.
One of the guys in our club has produced a replica of the Transperth B-Series EMU (which is the same design as the QR EMU you have replicated)

Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
Nice updates. I design in real bricks because I can test to see if something is going to work as I go. I think virtual building requires a level of skill which I haven't got to yet.
It's good to see the progress you've made so far.
Peter
Oh and welcome to ANZFOL jonwil

Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
So look what has come out bin and soon to be buildup once more
After my visit to Bricks n fun yesterday and now joining BLTG i am now going to try and build this train as the plans are done and it was fully tested to see if it works and it's now all green lights for this train.
I can easily go and see them a Bricks N fun to get the parts i need now with out ordering it online from someone i don't know.
Note: this is MKIII design alot shorter then MKI/II and can turn with out hitting any points.

Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
Outstanding! I imagine this will look great in physical bricks. You'll have to bring it to Brick Expo.
Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
OK design has just been change to run on the Brisbane lego train groups track its bit shorter then MKI/II/III and a lot more details this design was going to be 8 wide but it would of not fit in with BLTG scale.
I have stay true to color with the bricks and the design is 99% of the bricks lego makes 2011 only some parts will have to been found on bricklink.
will be starting it next week after i go back to Bricks N Fun to get some parts i need to get started.

Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
just video update just a note this is my blog i am doing on youtube
Re: LDD Shot of my soon to be build QR citytrain
update: well after last weeks test on BLTG display at bricks n fun the train was found to still be too long sadly .
but after some thinking over the last 5 days i have found a fix what 1. fix the height of the train and 2. fix its turning bogies so they don't hit stuff on the side of the tracks.
thanks to the release of the Maersk Train design i have killed 2 birds with stone and have the train design back on track.
After alot testing this morning I have found it should be Ok to run around the track so its back Friday to retested my new design and fingers cross i have worked out all the bugs in my design.
