Oh god oh god oh god.

Lol.
My name's Nikolas.
I recently just turned 18, got a debit card, and am now hysterical about indulging my lego obsession once more, having previously only been able to rely on my mother before moving out and up to Queensland and becoming independant. By independant I mean buying $600 worth of lego in 3 weeks. c:

Woot.

Anyways, nice to meet you all.

Hello Maetira

Welcome to the lego family. I live in Brisbane and invite you to check out the Brisbane Lego Train Group (BLTG) site and hopefully you will be able to join us soon for some brick building.

Hello Maetira,

Welcome to ANZFOL. legohappy

I have to agree with you that Lego train sets are expensive b u t when you go to a model train show and see the prices that people pay for one HO scale locomotive or one carriage, it puts the price of Lego trains into perspective.

The good thing about Lego trains is that my small grandchildren can play with them and if there is a mishap; you simply rebuild. legolaugh

Most N scale or HO train enthusiasts let their children play with their train set when the kid turns 45. legoskulltransform

As Brickton said earlier, check out BLTG website; you'll find that trains are just a small part of our group.

A number of our members are quite content to build for display and let others provide the trains.

You can find out more about BLTG at the bottom of the FORUM page on the site.

BTW, what sets did you get for your $600? legowink

Hm, I'll have to look into it then, cause for a while now I've had an idea in my head that when I get my own house I'm gonna turn an entire room into a lego city kinda thing, with a train, I just like to, win the lottery or something first to pay for it all. legoeyeshutlaughing

Hm, I like how you can simply rebuild lego when it breaks, doesn't stop me from being anxious when a young one lifts up a $200 set. >.<

As for what Lego I've bought, I've gotten more and re-calculated, and I've ended up spending over $1000. :D
I've bought the Bounty Hunter Gunship, Sith Infiltrator, Republic Frigate, Cad Band's Speeder, Greivous Starfighter, Sith Nightspeeder, Battle of Naboo, ARC-170 Starfighter(2005 model), Rogue Shadow, Mandalorian and Clone Trooper battle packs and the Atlantis Portal.
I also got the T-6 Jedi Shuttle for my birthday.

I really like Star Wars. b_b

Maetira,

There is no problem in liking Star Wars. If I had the $700 to waste the Super Star Destroyer would be on my desk next to me.

Hello,

A late welcome from me. I just pop up on the boards randomly after periods of hibernation where i try to spend my time focusing on uni. I see you like star wars... I wouldn't mind the Death Star or Sand-crawler but modular buildings are probably higher on my TO BUY list than those sets so i fear i shall not see them for quite some time.

At the moment i am waiting for parts to arrive so i can build my own imitation market street modular building and i have been inspired by the Mill attack Kingdoms set to build a medieval village setting with an old farm house and fields...then my boyfriend decided that it would be nice for a skeleton army controlled by an evil wizard to invade it...so that's what we're going to make on the uni holidays... . It's the first sign of interest he's ever shown in Lego so i just have to run with it lol.

P.S - What brings you to Queensland? I moved here away from my mother too! Are you home sick yet? :P

I wouldn't mind either of those sets as well, along with maybe the Venator or Star Destroyer. (I want to build the Outrider using the Star Destroyer pieces.)
It just sucks how expensive it all is though, even the smaller $30 sets make my spine shiver, seeing a set go for about $400 just makes me weep. :c
But I digress, I did end up buying the LAAT/c, so I must be a little insane.

At one point I was interested in building a city in one of my spare rooms when I was older, but I just never really got into the idea of making a modern setting, I prefer medieval settings in lego over more modern ones.

I've looked at several medieval sets, and the one thing that stops me from getting any is the yellow skin tone, and how much it would clash with my Star Wars pinkish flesh colour. I have all my sets just around my computer, chilling, them all being star wars as well, which would make a random castle or something similar just be incredibly awkward.

Haha, sounds like a splendid idea, hope it turns out to be fun for the both of you. Here's to hoping that he gets more interested in the future, it's always nice to have a creative hand when it comes to Lego. :D

And I came up here because there is a school here that offers a year11/12 pass in one year, so I'm doing that. It's the only place in all of Aus that does the course, or so I'm told.
I'm a little home sick, but I force myself to get over it because I can't really go back.

Maetira, I here you on the prices.

I nearly spent $300 a few weeks ago when MYER were having a buy 2 get 1 free sale. Sure it would have been great to have the sets, but I've spent close to $800 on Lego in the last 6 months as it is.

I've started getting some of the medieval sets, they're pretty cool. I think I'm going to design my own castle though, the sets are mainly just a facade so it would be nice to have a decent castle as my daughter likes to actually play with the Lego. (I was a bit worried after all the knights had a battle last week as they'd all lost their heads, even the king. I guess the baddies one as some of them were still in one piece.)

Luckily I've got quite a lot of spare space so I can keep my different styles separated. I have a town in my daughters playroom downstairs set up on a L shaped table (ok, its just a few pieces of MDF sitting on some storage crates, but it works well) I have been toying with the idea of turning my empty spare bedroom into a town, but this way I can try and pass the lego off as my daughters to those that don't understand. When I finally get around to buying a train for my town, I'm going to have to do this, so I guess its just a matter of time.

I recently started collecting the medieval sets too but i am not too taken by the castles, they need more building, they're mostly grey panels with sticker decals which i don't really like...if only money wasn't an issue.
