Re: My Lego City
Yeah, love the green windows too. The colours work really nice together.
I think I would like to try making train carriages as well, I thought I would only have one passenger train in my layout but I have always wanted a livestock train with cows and goats.

Re: My Lego City
Thanks guys, hopefully one day (when I become a millionaire) i will make some more and get the PF for my EN, I think it's my fav train.
And Ajax you should make a livestock carriage, that's awesome. Although LEGO cows are enourmous, it would have to be pretty big....
And re: my city, I am three quarters through a re-jig, I'm now waiting on bricklink orders to finish it off so it could be a while

Re: My Lego City
So I have just uploaded some photos and a video of my new layout!
Here are a couple of shots and if you want to see more I believe the photos are links...
The residents have been complaining about the new parking meters on the main street, but the mayor needed some way to pay for his big new Town Hall
And here's a panorama...
And the video:
Unfortunately it's really difficult to get some angles as it's nestled in by 3 walls, so I can really only get one angle. Anyway, there's more on flickr

Re: My Lego City
^ Cool, looking really nice and busy. Have you thought about strapping your phone onto the front of one of your trains and getting some footage that way? not sure it would even work but I always think about doing that or using a remote control car to drive around my city and get some video footage.

Re: My Lego City
Thanks LT
Yeah I have, but I've been too scared to try it, mainly because I'm sure the phone would fall off at the point that I can't reach without climbing on to the shelf But I am doing some building (actual building with wood) down there later, so I might try it... I'll let you know how it goesAjax wrote:^ Cool, looking really nice and busy. I had a go at it tonite. Not sure it really works for this layout right now because there's a lot of footage of the rock wall, but there's definitely potential there!!! Here it is:

Re: My Lego City
That is a possibility....
Hmmm, spend money on LEGO...? Or spend money on Go-Pro to film LEGO.....?
Tough decision!!! Suggestions anyone?

Re: My Lego City
Nice work! You know it exposes your backless buildings though,
I noticed you even gave yourself a small cameo role.

Re: My Lego City
Haha yeah, I tried to avoid the camera as much as possible but the track is a 360.... And I was more concerned with all the footage of rock wall more than the backless buildings... LT would have been pleased to see all the backless building thoAjax wrote:Nice work! You know it exposes your backless buildings though,

I might include some of this type of footage in my next layout video, whenever that will be...

Backless buildings are all fun and games until someone falls out of their apartment building and onto a train line,

Re: My Lego City
Nothing massive but I have made a Mountain train tunnel for my layout, I have yet to put it in place downstairs but took some shots to share
It's on a 48 x 48 baseplate, with a 32 x 32 baseplate on top, which is easily removable should I want to change what's on top of the hill...
And on top is a ruined building. As you can see, no one much comes up here and it's quite overgrown with all sorts of plant life...
And finally, the few people who do go up there must be seasoned professionals like this gentleman, it is quite a climb!
Hope you like and comments and critiques appreciated

Re: My Lego City
So it's been a few months since I have made an update, mainly because there hasn't been anything to update. I am in the process of redoing the wood on my main layout table as the damp has got to it and with the weight of the LEGO most of the pieces have warped, so now none of the modulars line up properly
But while I'm moving everything around I put all 9 of the official modulars together and did a quick street scape, thought you guys might like to see some pics
Unfortunately my hand is too shakey to get a proper panoramic shot on my iPhone but this is the best I could manage.
It's a challenge to get them all in one shot but they do look spectacular!
And here's my sigfig having lunch at the Parisian Restaurant
There's more shots on my Flickr if you're interested!! I will soon be sharing my entry in the EB digital 'House of your Dreams' contest too!
Unfortunately I have zero money atm and am trying to save for a car so no new MOCs anytime soon
Cheers!

Re: My Lego City
timmy,
the modulars certainly looked spectacular lined up like that.
Actually, the 1st photo looks like an earthquake has struck the town; quite unique photography.

Re: My Lego City
Well, unfortunately my layout is in bits and pieces at the moment. All the sets/MOCs are still together but they all strewn around my LEGO cave, aside from the 9 official modulars. Given my lack of funds and therefore lack of any new MOCs being created anytime soon, I thought I'd use the time to redo some of the wood work it all sits on... So it's all for a good reason, but a bit messy right now!

Re: My Lego City
Haha yeah, it's under the house so it's sort of in the foundations of the house, all sandstone so it looks a lot like a cave! It's a pretty cool space aside from the dust, damp and crumbling sandstone
