Good work too with the Croc pen, - are you planning on building a complete zoo?

Thanks Annie, I will be building a zoo, a big one too. I want to make it the main attraction in my City layout, well at least the City part of my layout. Im working on a Polar Bear enclosure now. Im building a large open area in the middle of the zoo which will be like a petting zoo area with monkeys, goats, camels, ostrich etc all living together. Problem with a zoo is it will cost a lot of $$. legosweat2

Thanks Timmy, As I plan the zoo I realise how many bricks/brinklink orders I am going to need to make, its a bit scary. Im not going to rush it and just build it one brick at a time, lol. Next is the Polar bear home.

Will it be an _evil_ petting zoo? legotounge

I really like the crock enclosure. It's good to see your city taking shape Ajax.

I almost finished my frog enclosure, just waiting for some clear panels for the front viewing windows, It looks pretty nice next door to the crocs. Polar bear pen is almost finished too, just waiting on a few more parts.
Im about to bite the bullet and get an elephant from brinklink, I cant believe how much Im going to pay but really really want an elephant. I hope Lego don't release a set next year with an elephant, if they do I will be most unhappy. Also need to get a brown bear, they are expensive too.

Yeah, of all the Lego animals its very well designed and looks pretty realistic (for a lego animal I mean) I should be able to get one for about $20 plus internationl postage cost. While I was looking for Bears yesterday I found the white and grey wolf looking creatures from Harry Potter or LOTR, cant remember, anyway they look pretty nice and I have decided to make a Wolf enclosure too, they have bigger jaws and teeth than regular wolves so I will probably call them 'Mega Wolves' or something.
Does anyone think it will look stupid if I put dinosaurs in my zoo? I mean there are no rules for a Lego city and I love dinosaurs especially the new Lego dinosaurs. I dont want to compromise the integrity of my city 'jarque's bay' with cheap gimmicks, (well no so cheap gimmicks, it is Lego$$$) legolaugh

I've got the 7414 Orient Experience set that has an elephant in it, but if I ever sold it I'd only sell the complete set and not split the elephant out of it. I got the set awhile ago, no box, but complete with instructions and it cost me $$$$$.
I was still playing Brik Wars at the time with Vic Sci Fi and Steampunk colonial themes so I just had to have an elephant. There was a guy on the forums who had a Lego Carthaginian army for Ancients and he had dozens of elephants. He'd very wisely purchased his elephants when they were first released otherwise putting such an army together these days would be financially crippling.

I bought the same set yesterday MISB for $55, pretty good score I think. it would have cost me at least $30 to buy an elephant and get it posted anyway. legohappy
One problem with it, I don't know if I will want to open the box. Maybe I should just take out the elephant and leave the rest sealed up?

hehe, Im over that idea now that I have an elephant, wolf and brown bear for my zoo, I was thinking of dinosaurs when the zoo looked a little empty but these 3 new guys will make a zoo trip worth while, Although I have not ruled out making a JP style island off the coast of my city someday. lego8O

$55.00 was a very good score for that set if it was sealed box.

This is how it will look with a zoo keeper and visitors viewing at feeding time.

This part is not quite finished, there will be some kind of roof area over where the keeper is and more barriers behind the public viewing area. It has a cave for them to sleep in too.

Wow! So much to take in haha

First i love the polar bear enclosure, looks great. Lots of viewing windows/areas and the cave is a great touch!

Second the frog enclosure is really cute, lots of greenery which you would expect and i love the little pond with the tortoises.

And lastly great MOD of the City Apartment! Looks better with a back and more bulk to it. I think i will have to modulise my version one day legohappy when i can afford it legoeyeshutlaughing

Happy building and i look forward to the next installment legoeyeshutlaughing

Ajax your zoo is going to be amazing once it is all complete. The new enclosures are excellent and look just like what you'd expect to find in a modern zoo.

I like what you've done with the City Apartment building too as i much prefer to have backs on my buildings as well. Love the treehouse legohappy

Thanks Timmy & Annie, My elephant set should turn up today, Im pretty excited to see it in person. My white Wolf (Warg) and Brown bear were posted yesterday so I will be making a start on their enclosures shortly. Im having a little trouble thinking of a good way to make the brown bear and wolf enclosures, the easy way is to make viewing windows from clear panels like I did with the Polar bear but I don't want it to all look the same. My Lego people will need good protection especially from the Warg, Its a Killer you know. legowink
