Any kind of obsessive behaviour that keeps out of important things in life, that makes you forget about anything that really should not is not healthy nor good at all. Yes you can call it Lego smokes... alcohol.... drugs... whatever, it doesn't matter at all mate. The difficult thing is to admit how compulsive/obsessive I am becoming for buying or doing or getting anything instead of enjoy a walk'n talk with my wife. As some one mention before, as long as you have the money... space... etc to afford it fine, but don't let it take control of you, if that happens the hobbie will turn you into its slave, and that mate... sucks! (being there )
I really enjoy my sets... my mocs... but, personally, I don't get frustrated if I don't buy anything new in weeks.
Any way... humble and personal opinion, you are free to do as you wish... and above all enjoy it
Take your point. I have a very stressful job, so I find that Lego as a hobbie is very relaxing. Whilst I have spent over 15k in six months, I take solace in the fact that I am older now, and don't go out drinking, etc. I don't smoke, I don't do drugs. Just enjoy sitting around home, playing with the kids! It's a bit of guilty pleasure that I am "addicted" - that is I buy every new model that comes out. But as long as you said, you can afford what you buy, then it's all good!
I've always been a collector - and trust me Lego is a great deal less expensive as my other hobby - collecting pinball machines - got 11 of those, and they take up far more room than Lego! :P

Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
Yes, I also understand your point, I also have an interesting level of stress at my job, but it doesn't matter, since I can spend time designing minifigs with my daughters! It is becoming an army by now
But yes, what matters, at least for me mate, is not what I have, is how I use it.
And pinball machines!?!?! I LOVE THOSE NASTY NOISE THINGS! they are quite are purchase mate!.... one just one I'll get one :legohat: Oh, by the way, is there a LEGO pinball machine?....

Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
Heheheh... exactly! Lego Pinball Machine!! Thank goodness there's not... I'd have to get a second mortgage!
You are exactly right - it is all about enjoying what you have.
I work to live, not live to work. Good saying a mate of mine's Dad said to me.
LOL... wish I had of had the willpower to stop at one pinnie... got quite a few of the classics... addams family, twilight zone, indiana jones, star trek next generation, etc. Any idea which pinnie you would aim for if you could only buy one?

One thing is so completely right and your Dad's mate is fully full of truth :O: "Work to live and I shall add live to enjoy too... "When I was younger I used to go with a uni mate to this arcade place near our favourite pub where they had Addams Family pinnie... I remember that I used to get in a very big controversy... should I go for a beer with that good looking girl (my girlfriend)... or should I go to play Pinnie!! and then thanks to that little machine, we got married!!! well I took a lot more than silver balls, but I can say that it had its influence... 8-O
But! Addams' will be a most for me, OH YES! and another one I could remember was Robocop... that one owes me money mate! LOL!
Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
LOL! Yes, Addams is a classic. Can't say I've played Robocop before.

Anyway, I own about 30-50 sets, half of them built, half not.

Is not that LEGO will give health problems, but any kind of addiction is not good at all that's my point, since it makes you forget about other things that are important in life. I guess that you don't understand the point any way.
I usually don't keep boxes, or items MIB... nah! I want to use them and enjoy them, besides all those boxes are going to create a cockroaches nest as big as the pacific ocean and no thanks! LOL
I just like to keep it simple and practical. But I sure understand and of course having the room to do it, I will keep some indeed. I do agree with you "I guess too much depends on your needs and what u do with it" 100%
Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
lego is about fun and imagination. I utilise lego as a hobby deliberately as a distaction from the potential stressors of life. However if anything including lego withdraws you so much that it starts to impact on acceptable ideas of functioning in our society then it becomes a problem. Sure lego is not up there with drugs and pokies, but it is how it affects your life and those around you that is important.

Understand!... sorry mate! :
And going back to topic, I honestly feel that when you have a hobbie or you collect something, call it any way you , line, etc you like it, it is never enough, there will always be something new coming out, or there will always be something you are missing... oh! and for that little thing you are missing in your collection... you are whiling to pay a lot of money (done it!)
What is positive about LEGO is the fact that it can be re-invented in infinite ways, your creations can be done and undone in thousand ways and you still have room for improvement, of course, and as stated above, you get to the point that you are missing a few essential block types to finish it the way you want
Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
You can never have too much Lego my collection is only small compared to others on here but I have fun with it and that is what matters

Fully agree with you, as long as it doesn't take over your brain... all good mate!
Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
Very well, at the end, is never enough? Or you reach the point of no return... that's my to be or not to be. There are new sets out in stores but that will never stop, on the other hand, I have hundreds, rather, thousands of fantastic bricks.... mmmm should I keep going and buying inoffensive mini people? or should I stop and enjoy the mini army I have gathered? Now I am in doubt... how hard it could be?
Cheers!
Cheers!
Re: How much Lego is too much? :)

OK, alot of people on this thread are saying you can never have too much LEGO. I personally think that is untrue. They (They meaning the LEGO Group, as They are the mysterious people who do alot of things.) say that every person in the world could have 20 LEGO bricks if they (its they again!) even all the bricks out. so times 20 by 64 billion or however many people there are in the world. If you had all the LEGO in the World, you wouldn't be able to pick up every brick in your lifetime if you continuously picked up bricks so I think that would be too much LEGO.

Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
I was always a firm believer in the fact there was no such thing as too much....until i moved houses. The first four to five boxes into the truck were lego. Since then ive bought more and currently have more on laybuy. There isnt much i cant build with all the parts ive got. now days i just purchase odd sets for parts. No more sets for me....mind you, ive said that before!
Re: How much Lego is too much? :)
As a result of browsing through Brickset over the past week I have finally been able to work out how many sets I own which is closing in on an approximate figure of around 100 plus sets.
I'm quite particular about so it will be reduced somewhat once I establish whether I cannot rebuild a particular set because of broken or missing parts.
I guess this is the fun and enjoyment part of rebuilding my whole collection of Lego once again.
Funnily enough I started rebuilding my childhood Lego some ten months ago and still haven't finished it as yet .
I guess I am getting a bit sidetracked with all the new stuff I keep buying now.
