Review - 3061 City Park Cafe
Welcome to my next review. This time I've departed from City for the moment and I'm reviewing a Friends set, this one being the City Park Cafe. I bought this as I wanted to check out the Friends line and I reckon it will look great in my CBD. I bought it from Big W for their normal price of $38.84. It was a piece of cake to assemble. It takes about 30 minutes to go together and looks pretty good once finished.
Name: City Park Cafe
Theme: Friends
Year: 2012
Pieces: 222
Minifigs: 2
Price: AUD $49.99 (S@H)
The front of the box:
The back of the box:
The contents.
Some new pieces, well at least for me anyway. First, the minifigs! Both were packaged like this, but their heads and hair were loose with the other parts.
The bits and pieces for the Cafe.
Two printed pieces!
Bags one and two combined to complete the first half of the build.
The minifigs.
Bag three done to complete the build.
Some views of the inside.
Love that hamburger!
There are also quite a few stickers throughout.
The leftover bits:
Now some minifig comparison shots!
Finally, Bob showing the scale of the accessories. Here he is with a knife and fork:
Now he has a kitchen beater:
Finally at the stove with a spatula and frying pan.
The Friends accessories are slightly out of scale with classic figs, but near enough is good enough! I think the only one that is glaringly obvious is the frying pan. The rest of the gear would work quite well in a kitchen or resturant MOC.
Overall, I think this is a pretty good set. It has been well designed and has plenty of accessories for the price. It looks good and the there's plenty of playability. The colours work well and I think TLG have done a good job at capturing the feel of a 1950's American Diner. For me, the main problem is all the little bits. Most of them have their place, but the 1x1 studs in the cupcake moulds keep falling out, as TLG haven't moulded a stud at the bottom. I think this is quite a bad omission, especially as younger girls play with their older siblings, as is with my case. I'm forever chasing the studs as my two-year old drops them.
Apart from that, there are no other major problems. My daughters love playing with it and I'm sure it will also go well in a City layout. I'll probably add a roof that sits on tiles in time to keep with my City's buildings, but other than that I love it as is.
I reccommend this set!
Enjoy!

It is a great set and the kids love it.
I think I would be hiding the cup cakes from a 2 year old as she might get into role play and eat them.
