Hello from the south side of Brisbane
Long time lurker, first time poster. I am predominately into trains, but I do all forms of transportation when funding permits. I have already seen a number of ideas that I can incorporate into my layout once I find space big enough.
Currently I have a mix of 9v and RC trains which I am wanting to expand upon through MOCs.

Welcome wayne mj to ANZFOL!
How big is your layout at the moment? Space is always a problem for a lego layout.
Which do your prefer; 9V or battery?
My preference is 9V as you have greater control over the trains on a large layout similar to what BLTG uses at model train shows.

Re: Hello from the south side of Brisbane
Welcome along wayne.m.j,
Glad to read you're a long time lurker, and you've now decided to post. More people getting involved will only make ANZFOL better. Sounds like you should check out BLTG too since it's in your area.
Looking forward to see your MOCs in the future. Do you intend to build replicas of real trains or more generic models?
Peter

Re: Hello from the south side of Brisbane
Well most of the MOCs are in digital form as I only have a 5"x4" layout consisting of the the red passenger train, the yellow cargo train and the Maersk Train.
I do still have parts of my old 7720 cargo train, mainly the engine and the battery box.
I prefer 9v over RC, but for little hands RC is better. Though I would like to see Lego adopt Xbee as it uses less power but has greater range and you are not overly restricted to the number of elements you can run.
I have been meaning to checkout the BLTG displays. Is there still one at the rail museum?

Not at the moment. The displays are at most scale model/model rail shows, or there is also one permanently set up at Bricks 'N Fun in Capalaba.

Re: Hello from the south side of Brisbane
Welcome aboard,
I guess you could easily call me a train lover having reached the stage of owning a total of six different trains which started with two 12V Trains during my childhood that remain in good working order to this day
The four others are basically remote control of which I have obtained over the past three years after finally securing room to build a display worthy of mentioning to all of the fellow members on here
In time I will share my creative skills with everybody as it currently remains under construction awaiting the finer details that will make it complete to my satisfaction !!!
