I know there's an intro section, but i don't have that much to say legowink Loved LEGO as a kit (who didn't?) but didn't really get back into it until a few years back when I met my LEGO-crazy wife :P Been collecting since and really got into trains recently since joining BLTG. My wife you may have seen around the place on here - AnitaE.

Aaaaanyway onto the point of the post... I basically had a couple of spare motors and Anita has a TON of lego in tubs (seriously, it's a madhouse) so started hunting old sets to build... came across the #4534 as the most likely target - though I couldn't do the carriage. I've had to sub in a few parts, and have intentionally changed some colours to break up the complete black-ness but I like the results! Given it's built purely out of random bits in tubs (and no, we never had the original set :P) I'm very happy with it.

Matt

well done, I love the trains, I think they are some of the better sets that LEGO make and love the job you have done from 'spare' bits

Thanks!

I've been playing further tonight and have plans to do some horrible things to them :P Think motors and lights :D

Normally when I build to a set I keep it pretty much to the set, but given this was from spares and never true to the set anyway I don't feel the same restriction :D

EDIT - No lights legosad Just won't work... but motors are a go :D

Hi mattman,

Welcome to ANZFOL. Hopefully we'll see more of you in Trains and Town.

That's a nice recreation of the My Own Train engine. You should check out the older 12V and 4.5V stuff too, some of them are quite detailed but use lots of generic parts so you'll probably have a good chance of recreating something similar.
