Hi everyone,

I was just thinking earlier that it would be good if the forum had an introductions section! As you can see i explored excessively after joining up (I actually headed straight for the pirate and for sale forum hoping to get some bargains/pirates). I am a uni student who has rediscovered Lego on a uni student budget, unfortunately when my mum died I had about one week to clear all my things out of our rental home and at the time my child hood lego collection was the last thing on my mind...no idea where it ended up. BUT while pondering its fate i ventured into the Lego aisle at Target and was mortified to find that none of the themes appealed to me. So i hopped online to find some good ol' pirate Lego (but ended up with the Imperial Armada). A few months later i have acquired some islanders, Indians, Cowboys, 3 Creator houses, ninjago, prince of Persia sets (also as of today pirates of the Caribbean), and a lot of random eBay/bricklink and Lego.com lots. I am working on my first real Moc at the moment. Namely my dream home but progress has halted due to a shortage of funds or alternatively what I consider excessively priced Lego. I'll try not to bitch about the price of shipping from America or the RRP of Lego in Austalia :P

When I'm not enthralled in Lego fantasy I'm a uni student & domestic slave to my boyfriends family (who I am indebted to for taking me in). I scrub their deck, cook vittles in their galley and pray for the day when I graduate and no longer have to live under their roof.

Well, fortunately the forum does indeed have an introductions section! Welcome aboard dosker! Out of all the above themes, do you have a favourite?

hello dosker

Welcome to ANZFOL

Did you get to the Ekka last weekend to see the BLTG display?

It would be great to see you at one of our shows.

Thank you for the warm welcome. Favourite theme... difficult for me to choose. I guess I am probably a bit old fashioned, I like the vintage themes more than the current ones. I can appreciate the level of detail in a lot of the new sets but I don't know if I like how customised some of the pieces are. That being said, i really love the bone cage in the new PotC cannibal set. I would say my favourite themes are islanders/pirates and Indians (pirates prevailing in a show down). I only recently discovered the creator houses which I think are pretty nifty too.

Unfortunately I did not get to the Ekka. I have never been, I'm a fairly new resident of Brisbane and i don't get out much as the only people I know here are my boyfriends family. Maybe one day I'll venture beyond the garden walls :P I'm really encouraged by all the great Mocs I have seen on your forum though. My partners sister called me a kid last week (there's a two year age difference and we're both in our 20's) and I went to retort when I realised I was sitting on the ground playing with Lego, so I suppose what I'm saying is it's good to know I'm not alone! :P

Kind regards, A. Reid

Hi Dosker,

Another Brisbane-ite here. (And another lover of vintage lego, I have a secret stash that I keep separate, which even includes some of the little HO metal Lego vehicles from the 60s... oh and my love of the pigtail hair).

Can't wait to see your MOC of your dream home in the future.

Well if you're interested in attending a huge LEGO expo and meeting some fans from all over Australia, see if you can get to Canberra in August for Canberra Brick Expo, we'd love to have you exhibit. You can also see a few photos from last year here. legohappy

Oh gosh! I love the star gate creation :P I don't think I'd be confident enough to show anything at an exhibit. My collection is growing though and I have a few mocs that I would like to do in the future. I was really inspired by a bath house moc i saw on flicker (always wanted to go to Japan). I've never been to Canberra before, but depending on when the expo is (I have law exams around that time) I would love to attend.

6th and 7th. Also worth attending for a guest speaker at our VIP cocktail party. Someone that should be inspiring to all who attend...
