Where is everyone?
I just thought I'd post this as things have sort of died a bit here.
So where is everyone?
Just remember the members make the site what it is, so please tell your friends about the site and send them links so they can join.

Re: Where is everyone?
I do the same as Redboost, so I think it's just a problem that there isn't anything to talk about. :

I check it at least 4 times a week. Post new stuff when I have something of substance. Been really busy of late I haven't even looked at EB except Draggy's ending to the mystery manner...

Re: Where is everyone?
The thing to remember is that you're competing for attention with a few other LEGO-related forums on the internet. Not everyone is going to be bothered visiting a Aus-NZ-specific forum, as they may not see any real advantages over the forums they already visit. Also, some of the other forums are very well-established, have many members and thus a lot of interesting activity, and are also quite well-run and maintained.
I'm a member of a mailing list for AFOLs in Melbourne, but mostly it's to organise stuff we do when we meet up in real life. This site has been mentioned to them, but only some of them were interested in joining, this seemed to be for varying reasons included the ones I mentioned above.

Re: Where is everyone?
I really think your problem is that Eurobricks is so strong. Even though it's Eurobricks, 5,000+ members is tough to compete with. But give it time, I'm always here to support you. :pirate:
Re: Where is everyone?
I'm still here.......! :O: I agree with everything said above. More reviews would be fantasitc, but there's a lack of new material out there. Hopefully, it will all pick up in August.

Re: Where is everyone?
My two cents for what its worth;
There is an effect of web sites that has been studied academically. The first web site only needs to be useful to suceed. Once it has built a critical mass of followers, any competing website needs to be better in some way to aproach the sucess of the first, and it needs to be much better. If its only a little better its not worth the effort of changing, and the first site is still more attractive to new users than the second as it has more activity.
This suggests to me that this forum has no hope of replicating Eurobricks for as an example. It does however have an advantage if it sticks to local information. That is, if it focuses on things such as where/when lego kits are available, whats on sale, where AUS/NZ lego groups meet, local Conventions, it has less competition.
That could also be extended to blog posts like the Brothers Brick, or MOCpages (MOC of the day) but focusing on builders only from AUS/NZ.
Dont try and replace MOCpages, just cherry pick locally relevant MOCs.
We have some awesome builders in the region, so I'm sure the range and quality of the material would be good.

Thanks Zuloo, It was actually Hollisbrick's Idea to "Revive" a Aussie/Nz LEGO Forum but yeah since we're both in Highschool its kinda hard since all the studies ect... :
I would do a heap of reviews but my sister broke my camera, I need a new one. Also I was thinking (If my one schedualed for 2010 goes well on EB) I might do a Mafia Game on these forums.marvinblue wrote:I'm still here.......! :O: I agree with everything said above. Well im not trying to copy EB, But we need some more active staff, a front page, and like you suggested links to aussie/nz mocs on mocpages ect.. would be great thing is I just dont have the time to do this all by myself. :peterab wrote:My two cents for what its worth;

Re: Where is everyone?
There are many other things that could be done in order to make this site more attractive *if I may use that word*... I know I am new here, but I could perhaps. Suggestions listed in this topic are very good and relevant to make improvements :

Dont try and do everything yourself, just do what you enjoy, and ask for help for the other stuff.
I was a programmer for 10 years so I can probably help with a front page, PM me and give me an idea of
what you want and I'll have a think about it.
