G'day from Redland City
Greetings,
I bought my first Lego train set [ 12V ] after my children and I visited the huge pirate Lego display at Myer in Brisbane many years ago.
After we got the train running, we needed more track so it was back to the shop. We came out with some straights and for protection, a fire station.
Then of course, we needed some cars and roads and houses and people and trees etc. {Who knows how many dollars were spent on plastic?}
Now I have the pleasure of helping my grandchildren build their parent's sets + a few new ones.
I am a member of the Brisbane Lego Train Group and enjoy building MOCs.
This year we hope to display a new layout.
If all goes well, we will unveil "ScreamWorld" at the Brisbane model train show on the May day long weekend.

Re: G'day from Redland City
Thanks shieldzee1.
I know Russell Island very well.
There are a few Redlanders into Lego. I have met a few of them at the BLTG meeting place at Capalaba.
You will have to come over to join us.

Re: G'day from Redland City
Thanks TazManiac.
I still have the 'programmes' from the shows up at Myer. Remember as you came out, this girl would ask you to buy one as a souvenir.
Only a hard hearted person would refuse in front of their kids; after all, it was free admission.
Then there was the shop of Lego after this. Again, a few more dollars came out of the wallet.
AAAhhh! The good old days.
The grandkids love Lego; it is great to see their creativity.

Welcome! Good to hear of so many people in your family of so many ages are enjoying LEGO bricks - great stuff. I hope you enjoy your time at ANZFOL, and maybe I'll see you at a future Brick Expo?
You may not survive to pass this way again, and these be the last friendly words you'll hear!

I think I've still got a program for the Expo too but It's buried at Mums house some where....... I'll dig it up one day for the kids even though I've shown them most of it online.

Captain Zuloo
Thank you for your welcome. Canberra in August is a possibility; depending on local model train shows.
I am a bit perplexed by your statement:-
""""You may not survive to pass this way again, and these be the last friendly words you'll hear!"""""
Is this a veiled threat or is it a quote from some crappy TV show that you have forgotten to put in quotation marks?
Either way, I do not see the relevance to this forum.

Re: G'day from Redland City
Oh, it bears no relevance whatsoever, don't worry about that!
It's a quote from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland. I was just testing your Piratical knowledge...not that it really matters. Sorry to have confused you.

Re: G'day from Redland City
Well you spend too much time with AFOLs and I suppose that's just what happens.
