MOC - ANZ Bank (art deco style) Anz_mkii_wip_1

Goodbye to the city corner style and say hello to a classic art deco style of bank branch.
More detailing to come yet.....so comments are welcome and as usual keep on bricking ! legohappy

While the white is probably pretty accurate (at least a lot of these deco buildings were painted white later) I think this would look cool with some dark tan detailing around the doorway arch.

Thanks for the comments 'peterab', ...mmmm...tan around the archway....an example to go by as I have used all SNOT to achive the archway frontage hence it being all in white.
In my search for images old bank buildings were either all white, stone grey or a mixture of white and tan/sandstone.

A lot of the stone in Melbourne was painted white during the 60's, but some is being sandblasted back now. There were also some patterned brickwork buildings here, but I imagine they are rarer in SA given the amount of local sandstone around.

I can't quite make out how you've built the bits either side of the door, but I imagined there were 1x2 tiles facing out, which would be easy to replace with dark tan. Over the door it looks like you've used bricks which might be harder to replace, but the central stripe would look good in dark tan too. Could also work in dark gray.

Obviously that all depends on if you want to and have the bricks, and it looks great anyway, so there no need to do it, I just thought it might look good.

Ah, so you mean the 2x1 tiles I have running down either side of the doorway, plus the middle layer of the raise outwards section of the door way - both in tan. Problem might be the 2x1 in tan though at the top no problem I'll just pull parts of my modular hardware store whuch was all tan brick, plate and tile (not enough 2x1 though).
I'll see how it looks and if I like it - I'll go with it.

I think the tan made a great difference, especially the diamond in the centre. It really reinforces the art deco style.

And love the phone booth.

Yes, this is one of my favorite builds because of the tan tiling, it just screams 1930's ! lego:3

I have always liked this creation from the first time I saw it but never said anything until now so having said that I am glad to see a photocopier and hope that you find that phone booth !!!
