Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
Fantastic, I love all the tiling in the interior. The spiral staircase is also very clever, good use of jumper plates to keep them from moving on top of each other. This ship is really coming along brilliantly, I expect to see it in Canberra in August.
Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
Aw, man the captain's quarters is just AWESOME, such detail is almost too much.
Keep up the COOL work and also keep on going ARRRRRR !

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
I'm a little confused - the headrails are the white SNOT parts on the bow, but you don't seem to have adjusted them...
Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
ah my bad....... I later realised what Admiral Croissant was on about but have yet to change them .

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
Yes, but I feel it may also be the angle. If you could put another plate under that 1 x 2 white tile just behind the figurehead, and raised the whole thing a little, I think it might look a little better.
Are you planning to include heads?

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
That looks brilliant! The decking being all tiled is really effective, and the shrouds are really tought which is a brilliant thing.
But if you'd like some constructive criticism...
Your ship is a very brigantine looking vessel in almost every aspect, but the masts seem to be too far back. You can see here what I mean. The foremast should be almost at the very front of the deck while the main mast should be just back of centre. Also, about the middle of the ship on either side should be a ladder for the small boats to pull along side. That's a detail I think you should certainly include, even if you don't move the masts.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
yeah the ladders are some thing I had planned, and i Know what elements to use for them ( as they are par of the ship rather than ladders hanging from the railing or deck).
As for the masts if i move them more than one stud forward I loose access to the gun deck as the mid section lifts off and with custom rigging the masts have to be fixed to the top deck permanatly.
Cheers for the feedback it helps heaps.
just did a search for Brig of war and my mast placement looks near spot on.....

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
That image you have does indeed have the foremast back a good bit, but it also has a much longer hull than your ship. I deliberately found an image of a fairly short brig, considering the short and stubby nature of LEGO.
You can see how I did the ladders on my ship here.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
yeah that was the element I was thinking, that or the ones used on the porthole covers. the problem is the tumble-home I don't really want a flat bit in the middle (even if it's only two stud wide) but I'm working on it with the help of some good old jumpers.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
Yeah, understandable. I avoided that with a different style of tublehome, but yours is good also, presents new challenges. Good idea using jumpers.
Another thing you'll want to think about is catheads. Are you going to use the anchor elements or will you do custom ones?

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
I didn't think the ladder would look ok there, but it's not too bad. Where abouts is it positioned on the ship? It should be almost dead centre.
Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
that middle gun port is the dead center.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
Hey TazManiac, that's brilliant! She really looks great now.
Sail wise, they don't look too bad, but your yards aren't quite spaced correctly. The foresail and mainsail (bottom sail on both masts) should be the biggest height wise, and the others should decrease in height the higher up the mast they are. If you do that, you can possibly fit some royals on the top.
Still, being LEGO, it can be as accurate or inaccurate as you like, doesn't really matter.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
While waiting for more bricks to complete the gun deck ect. I've been friggin' in the riggin' as there was not much else to do.
It's getting alot closer to finnished ( still need to cut new sails )
As you can see Blocksworth's trusted crew are still rigging her up and stocking the stores.
Comments always welcome.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
another little update, rat lines are done now, and capstan is working.
and my favourite Like BrickTango said looks the best this way.
so that's the outside pretty much done just missing a few ropes here and there but not far away. starting work on gun deck as soon as parts arrive.
For my first attempt at a prefab hull ship I'm pretty happy with it, and my next one will be a lot easier now I have some experience.
