updated..MOC Ship!!
As i let slip that I'd be doing a moc to answer "On The Rocks" I thought I'd make it official there will be a Blue coat (Pirate hunter) ship built.
It's still in the design stage, I have a few sketches done that pretty much cover the detail and has given me a good idea on the parts needed to complete the project, Everything will be ordered for this as I intend to keep this MOC built!

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
Can you post some of the sketches you have done?
I've been curious to how people design and build some of their bigger projects

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
cheers,
still need to order a hull I'm using the "Clipper"s little hull to experement on but it's a bit too short to do much with.
I'm guessing about 2,000+ pieces so it would probably be cheaper to buy the Flag ship #10210 but that's not the point here.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
hmmm maybe.
anyway nutted out my biggest problem today, problem was i want a sealed lower deck but in order to do this my captain's cabin would sit too high for the length of the ship, and still needed access to the upper deck from the main deck I wanted a spiral staircase but the prefab ones are way too big and the door i want to use is too high ....
sorted got to keep my door have a good line and bonus spiral stair case!!!
this is still WIP but I'm feelin' it.

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
In preparation for rigging my own ship The BSB has copped a new rig and sails so I know what I'm doing later ( my ship will have functional rigging/sails )
So this is meant to look real-ish like it could work.
For this build I used
LEGO Wands,
an old white shirt,
and cross stitch thread,
the tread is doubled over and twisted, then the rat lines (wands) are feed through the twist.
the sails are based on LEGO sails but are longer so they catch more wind and really pop out like this (there's a fan behind the ship to simulate wind)
All the rigging was copied from a ship diagram from about the same period.
note that there's still a lot missing but you get the idea.
Feedback welcome

Re: updated..MOC Ship!!
The rigging and sail work is beaut. very authentic. Pity they don't make slopes in pearl gold yet. or pearl gold plates.
The bow ornament(sorry I don't know the nautical name for it) might need a little rework to make it a tad more streamlined. even angling his torso might help but thats just an opinion. Always enjoy your mocs, keep up the good work.

yeah thats the stock figure-head on the Black sea's barracuda, My MOC has the bulldog head on it though it's hard to see in that pic.
just to be clear the top ship is mine the one with all the rigging is TLG's design just modded a bit.
