Review: 7631 Dump Truck

My First Review

So I decided to start with one of my two most recent sets, 7631 Dump Truck : The reason I bought this set, was that it looked nice and was reasonbly cheap. Unfortuanly I wasn't able to get it on sale : I have to admit it was really quick to build it took me around ten minutes. : It fits in great with all my old construction city stuff, the construction part of city never really goes away, from its old sets.

Well, it's a pretty attractive box.

The constructor and his tools

The giant rocks pretty useless as usual. The sign is great idea which they have brough back, but getting the stickers on can be frustrating. The signs got the same problem as the fence, the stickers can get even more frustrating. The little cones are great though, only a few pieces and they look great. The minifigure is pretty normal, as all the other constructors, so nothing great to say about him. The grills on the side and front give it a more realistic look.

The Truck!!!


It has a hinge holding the trailer which means when your turn the front the trailer follows.

Man in his Truck

Its a really simple design for the front, but its affective. When building it, the shafts on the side of the chair came up high and I thought I would be able to fit the mnifigure in.

The Dump Joint

The dump is just as great, the pieces that make up the curve on the side of the trailer are fantastic. The only thing I don't get is the cradle kind of thing at the front. The hinge that holds it together is good but it has fallen of for me quite a few time.

All together now

All looks great together. Sorry about the slant of the fence, there was a crease in the paper.

Playability: 9/10 (lots of contraptions)
Design: 8/10 (the front is amazing)
Price: 7/10 (could be a bit cheaper)
Overall:8/10(Its a great set what more can I say : )

Im thinking of getting this set but not sure I'll have enough money left after I buy all the other City/IJ/SW/Space stuff...

Its a great set, but personally wait till it comes on sale :

I voted the way I did, as I had a look at the next-door neighbour's truck and 1) it was out of scale with vehicles such as the Ambulance and Police Car, 2) it is too hard for the excavator from the Construction Site to off-load into. Bit of a shame, as my City needs a dump truck. Otherwise, it does look really nice and builds up really well.
