BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
During the past few days I have chosen to piece together a city/township of my mine which is nothing new to those who collect these sets.
My version of it is a little bit different as I have been taking photographs of what is happening in and around the streets whilst still building it from scratch.
As you can see by the photographs I have posted on Brickshelf a story is starting to unfold as I continue to make improvements along the way !!!
Hmm, what should I do next !!!

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
The answer to the above post has been created with some more snapshots which have been titled "Saturday Morning Cow Chaos".
You'll notice that I have modified the City slighty and also relocated it in readiness for some major improvements which are on the way !!!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy these new photos.

Free Spirit, perhaps you would have more success with this thread if you provided a link to images - is this the BS folder: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=436848 ?

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
I saw these a while ago when I was checking the recent posts on brickshelf, I thought the cow chaos was quite funny.

It may just be my computer, but the recycle truck one says "Empty" where the image should be and the cow chaos is under moderation. How dare you upload more photos! =P
Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
I like how you're "building" Fire Brigade. I tried the same thing with my set, but got impatient in the end and put the camera away!!

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Hi guys, I am one who felt that I had spice up my photos of "Saturday Morning Cow Chaos" because it wasn't funny enough for a reaction.
So I therefore uploaded different photos to see whether I could gain a response which I have now.
"Recycle Truck Run" photos have been uploaded which should appear within the next 24 hours.
I am confident you will laugh at these photos.

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
As I stated from the beginning I am planning something big so after securing my first of the new Level Crossing # 7936 I have spent a few hours transferring my current "City Layout" onto a bigger table.
A few extra buildings and road plates will be appearing on my Brickshelf Collection of photos within the next week.

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
During the course of the past 24 hours I have been steadily building a different angle to my City Layout which is more towards the old 1980's sets as the below link will show but once I piece it together it will become a very unique city/township for all to admire.

Loving that train station there! I really like the classic stuff. What sort of trains will you be running there?
Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
I have a lot of saving dollars and work to do so expect this creation to take some time !!!
Just found a good spot to put my McDonalds Restaurant # 3438.

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
I certainly appreciate the kind words Captain Zuloo and Lightningtiger !!!
The Maccas Restaurant has since been expanded upon which will look more like a Modular Building once its completed.
Just gotta find the right coloured pieces to successfully build it the way I want it to compliment and fit in with the other buildings around it.

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Hi again,
I've finally got started on building up my layout by putting together some of the inside tables as one.
https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=42385&id=100000472870912&l=36a6c58528
I'm interested to see what your thoughts are with how the water feature works as the whole thing begins to take shape over the next few weeks.

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
That water feature is just AWESOME, some lovely classic town stuff there 'Free Spirit'.
Do you have a page on Brickshelf ?
Why don't you come on over and join Eurobrick, there are quite a few classic town fans over there, I would say they might impressed by your water feature along with you collection and stacks of advice they will offer you too.
Keep on going and keep on bricking !

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
The Classic Town is coming together very well. Is the wooden box going to be part of your layout or is it supporting something? Looking forward to seeing more.

The water feature looks tops, I guess if you wanted to you could spray paint it a clear blue, but I have to say I like it the way it is

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Thanks for the compliments.
As for the rectangular box sitting along the back I can say it is there for a very good reason.
Do you see what looks like a Train behind the Garage and Post Office, if so use you imagination as it going to be one massive thing when complete.

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Since I last wrote about this topic not much has happened other than spend up on buying LEGO items.
The good thing is that I have just worked out some dimensions for my layout and have almost everything I need so here is how its going just as I begin to build the next section.
See link below.

Lots of fun and work here !!!

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Hi guys, I thought I would report on how I am progressing with my layout.
As shown by the photos posted on the link below the concept is steadily taking shape however what is on the horizon is where it will become a much better display to see.
I have made a decision to shift the Cargo Train Loop to the right to fit in a Goods Train Loop from my 1980's collection which will make the whole Cargo Station become one and link up both cities !!!
See link below.

Some more photos will be posted soon

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Looks great! How big is the layout going to be when it is complete?
One other thing RE your photos - are they only working because we're friends on Facebook, or is that a public gallery?

Re: BUILDING MY OWN CITY / TOWNSHIP
Dude, the water effect looks great. Keep going and you'll have a first class exhibit no question. Looks great and if as you say its going to get bigger then I can only see it getting better.
Great Job!

Thanks guys, the size of it completed is beyond anybody's imagination however after measuring stage one which I estimate to be approximately 1500cm down to 4000cm wide I find myself staring at the possibility of filling up half of my two car garage just for starters
I think I am obsessed with it
