Re: What I bought today
Hey fellas, today I picked up the new City tractor as well as the soldier impulse set. Grand total of $18 from Big W. Not a bad haul for a little price I don't think, but don't expect any reviews. I'm far too busy!!!
P.S. I built the impulse inside the plastic bag - that was fun! ::

Re: What I bought today
Stupid question DL did you end up paying more for shipping than you paid for the pieces?

Re: What I bought today
Nah its funny the second order which was cheaper overall & from NSW but the postage cost more then the first one which was from Europe. and about twice as expensive.Keetong wrote:Stupid question DL did you end up paying more for shipping than you paid for the pieces?
One from europe was I think $1.50 USD. the Aussie one was $4.50 AUD I think, So abit more expensive.
Re: What I bought today
weird selection of pieces
I tend to do bricklink orders when I need a particular piece, and then I end up buying as much as I can afford from that store, so my orders tend to be large and rare.
So should we ask about the stick of bread?

Yeah abit wierd, The first shop I was at didnt really have anything else I wanted. (that was cheap)
the second shop didnt have much either and i didnt really have time to look around. So I just quickly clicked on "food" and saw a breadstick and since I dont have one I thought "why not" :: it just looks wierd with just 3 other duplo figs and nothing else...
Re: What I bought today
Peterab you've got the right idea of buying of bricklink, buy large, rare and a lot.
That reminds me I should really create a paypal account its bugging me. ( I want seigfred's bucket)

Re: What I bought today
Meh I'll probable get the Pirates from Kmart whenever they get them, Since it'll probable be abit cheaper.Keetong wrote:At target they had a 20% of all toys.
Otherwise the only other thing I want is MMV but dont have $$
Re: What I bought today
I also went to the Target toy sale. I got up early and made it to Highpoint (west Melbourne) at 8:40. My local Target has not got any of the new sets for the Sale :-(
They had four Medieval Market Villages on their shelves. I bought two. They also had the whole pirate range except for Shipwreck Hideout. I was good and didnt buy anything else though. MMV is a nice build, clearly its designed for older builders though as some parts are fragile and fiddly untill finished. I found the tree really anoying as I kept breaking the trunk whille puting on the leaves, and dropping and breaking it. It does look good once finished though.
Oh I forgot to add my tax refund came today so I have some cash to spend so I might look at another Target and a Big W today :D3

Re: What I bought today
I got the last medieval market at my target, I nearly missed seeing it.
TRU is the only place that sells shipwreck hideout.

Since I dont have access to a decent camera, I'm probably not up to posting full reviews. I do have a comment on MMV. Besides all the awesomeness you can read about elsewhere, the set includes a green frog. As far as I could tell it doesn't appear anywhere in the instructions, it's just there as an extra. It's really cool that in a set so full of animals, food and great figs, they just chuck in an extra frog.
Oh and I had a successful trip to Epping Plaza toystores today, and came home from Target with Brickbeards Bounty

Re: What I bought today
You have done well!
I'm still waiting to get City Corner off lay-by, then the end of the year for the Family House, new Fire Station and the Christmas Village to be released.

Re: What I bought today
I went around a kmart so I found... not so cheap toys! but I got LEGO 7743 Police Truck, 7239 Fire truck, 7638 Tow Truck and finally 8402 Sports Car. I am already working on my Train layout thanks to Peterab I got some little inspiration to finally do mine. So all this are just additions to what will eventually be a Lego city... bump

I was pretty lucky that my tax check came just as the sales happened. I still want Emerald Night, City Corner, Modular Fire Station, and maybe the Christmas Village but all will wait till I find them on sale. I dont have much money to spend, and almost all goes on Lego, so I try to stretch it as far as it will go.
I'm not sure about the Family House, I saw it the other day at a local Toyworld. The model itself doesn't really captivate me as I think the red roof looks odd with the tan, but there are lots of windows, and useful tan bricks, so it might be worth it as a parts pack. However I might be more tempted by an extra Emerald night, or Fire Station as a parts pack instead. I bought a couple of the tan Creator Townhouses on sale a couple of years ago so I have a lot of tan already. Had it been grey I would be all over it.

Be sure to post pictures of your layout as it grows. I'm currently working on a turntable and roundhouse, so when they are sufficiently finished I'll try and get some pictures.

I will, no question about it mate, so for it just looks empty, not many buildings indeed but working on two currently, I just downloaded instructions from LEGO website to get and help me with some ideas, and seeing around other buildings that will inspire on what I wish to see.
Re: What I bought today
Went to my local Big W today to see if they had any of the new Space Police and found a 7888 Batman Tumbler :D
Must've been old stock from out the back, but picked it up for $78. Stoked as I missed all the other Batman sets.

I recieved my 50 straight and 2 left and 2 right 9v rails today. Set me back $575 including postage from Germany, but I'm happy with it, it will only get more expensive!
