Review - 3179 Repair Truck
Welcome to the next installment of my City reviews, the Repair Truck. I bought this as it is another one of the latest additions in the City line. I bought it from K-Mart for $18. It was a piece of cake to assemble. It takes about 20 minutes to go together and looks pretty good once finished.
Name: Repair Truck
Theme: City
Year: 2010
Pieces: 118
Minifigs: 1
Price: AUD $19.99 (S@H)
The front of the box:
The back of the box:
The contents. Haven't had instructions in portrait before:
Halfway through already!!
The kit complete:
The leftover bits:
Left side:
Right side. The rear locker has two spare globes in it, while the front locker holds a screwdriver, drill and an oil can. My truck won't be needing the oil!!
Front veiw:
Rear view:
Overall, I think this is a pretty cool truck. It has been well designed and has plenty of accessories for the price. It looks good and the cherry-picker functions well. I'm a little disappointed at how low the bucket hangs when resting, but that would be my only gripe. This set is a great addition to anyone's City layout.
I reccommend this set!
Enjoy!.

Re: Review - 3179 Repair Truck
This repair truck reminds me of 6521 being the same colour.
Whilst that one was for repairing vehicles I think both would be cool to see side by side so I will be definitely grabbing one once they hit the shelves down here.
Great review marvinblue you got me keen to buy it.

Looks nice. At only $20, possibly something I could look into purchasing. Thanks for the review mate, keep them up.

Great review, I really enjoy them.
Interesting that Lego has positioned the steering wheel dead centre.

In a 6-wide vehicle, there really isn't anywhere else.guymontag wrote:Interesting that Lego has positioned the steering wheel dead centre.

Thanks for this review marvinblue. I like the set except for the lift arm. I feel the click hinges are clunky and juniorised, and the mechanism is unrealistic. The truck itself makes up for that. I may even buy more of these to mod.

Re: Review - 3179 Repair Truck
My son just got this truck for his birthday. It is the first lego set that he and his brother have put together independently of me because I fell asleep on the couch after work! They love the kit and I think it is excellent, particularly because it is has enough features to interest the kids but is more robust than say the garbage truck that came out a few years ago. Equally, it offers something for AFOLs because it looks the part in a city diorama.
I am thinking of using the design to make a CFA Tanker. Build it in red with lockers on both sides and it would look the part.
(CFA = Country Fire Authority, Victoria, Australia).
Mark.
