Re: Space Police 2009
I might get a few. Some of the minifigures look great but the metalic colour that they are in, seem just a bit funny. The green guy with the four arms looks cool. The onlyproblem I find is its human verse alien and it just seems old. Why can't it be humans and aliens verse aliens and humans, I guess to a certain extent you could call it racist. :

Loving all the new sets. I think they should have mixed up some of the characters though so you have SP aliens and criminal humans. Similar to Star Trek how they have alien races serving in the federation and human enemies. Hyperspeed Pursuit and Galactic Enforcer catch my eye at the moment but all of them are must-buys for me.

Re: Space Police 2009
I saw most of these in the flesh today. The guy building the big ship enjoyed it, he said it had a 90's old school feel to the build. The alien figs look really cool in all the new sets. Most of the people at the MUGS meeting where I saw them were happy with them.
I'm more a train head but I'll probably pick up a Space Truck Getaway because it has eight big yellow panels. I'm also interested in Squidmans Pitstop (I didnt see it today). I'll wait and see if I can find them discounted though.

Re: Space Police 2009
I lay-by'd the big ship (Galactic Enforcer $116) and I also bought Hyperspeed Pursuit ($54 I think onsale) and the Freezray Frenzy for $8.
I haven't built the Hyperspeed Pursuit yet. (!) 8-O
But I think Freezeray frenzy is a good set little set, I like the SP Speeder (it uses a white tricycle piece that they used for the speeder in the SW Gunship)
I took the flick-fires off the little speeder and covered it, it looks way better if camera was working i'd post pics...I might later when i get it working. :

Re: Space Police 2009
I had some money to burn and saw all the new sets in the shops. But I just couldn't bring myself to buy any of them. I like the figs but I'm not a fan of the ships.
Guess I'll go back to my trains.

The space truck getaway has some nice large yellow panels, which would make decent freight, also the rest of the kit would make a nice truck with the addition of some wheels. And you get a cool alien fig to hide on your layout (maybe a Men In Black vig .

Re: Space Police 2009
I must say I have seen these as well at kmart. Good to see lego trying to bring back a theme from the 80's but with a much needed rehash.

That doesn't seem right, it's only NZD$11.99 on Lego S@H, so you should be able to buy it close to that in the shops.

racict lego
hahahah i love darth legois's pic
but seriously some of the aliens have similarities to racial stereotypes:
Kranxx reminds me of a mexican stereotype with his handlbar-esk mustache and open vest
Skull Twins (when their helmets are on) could be asian with their thin slated eyes, the fact that 'they all look the same' and their bio states an intrest with advanced technology
Slizer has a loose resemblance to old racist black cartoons, due to his helmet making him look like he has thick lips and a wide mouth
Squidman could be based on the stereotypical jew due to his obsession with gold and wealth
Snake could be a representation of youth (another group targeted by police) as he is the same yellow colour, described as a punk in bio, has a helmet-mohawk, a spotty complexion and apparently excels in the use of new technology.
and Frenzy... is probly just an alien
im not saying this because i have a problem with it, i think its an awesome idea, that lego might have put a deeper message for older lego fans where the police arnt as good as first thought and the aliens instead of being ruthless criminals are minor offenders being targeted due to their species.
or i could be reading way too far into this. either way thats the way im playing with them
