Hi I'm a new arrival.
Hi
Just wanted to do a brief intro and say Hi.
Played with Lego when I was little, my favourite at the time was Police Station 381. The translucent garage doors just got me.
Fast forward to 2008-2009. With 3 kids and 2 boys that love lego, got me hooked again. At Christmas time I was using my kids as an excuse to buy Lego. Well I just have to face facts and admit it. I'm buying for me because I've fallen in love with the Lego again.
Haven't started to do any Major MOC except for making stuff for my kids to use as a castle.
Now much of my time is spent looking at Brinklink, ebay and doing the shopping centres in the hope of snaring some lego bargains.
I'm mostly into City as that is what I grew up with. but have been buying all sorts and now realise I have to slow down.
I'm also keen to discuss anything and everything about LEGO so be prepared for lots of posts from me regarding ideas, questions, comments and opinions on LEGO.
I'm from Sydney, so it would be good to hear from anyone in the Sydney Metro.
cheers

Re: Hi I'm a new arrival.
Hello, and welcome! It's always good to hear another AFOL has come out of the dark age and come back to LEGO. I'm from Canberra, might be heading up there at some point in the coming months in which case we could arrange to meet up. Have you heard of Brickvention? It's Australia's LEGO convention in Melbourne on the Australia Day long weekend. Perhaps worth taking the train up for the public day (Sunday) as I think it will be a cracker of an event!

hi. I'd love to go but i'm working and I couldn't go without the kids. Do they ever do the brickvention thing in Sydney or Canberra.???

Re: Hi I'm a new arrival.
Brickvention is only held in Melbourne as it is run by Melbourne LEGO Users Group. Although keep an eye on the horizon, there may be a big LEGO even emerging in Canberra in the next few years...

Re: Hi I'm a new arrival.
Hi guymontag,
You might want to check up on the Sydney Lego Train Club (SLTC) which have a forum on Yahoo groups.
At this stage Brickvention is only held in Melbourne, as Cpt Zuloo has said but the organisers have thought about doing interstate conventions. At this stage Melbourne seems to have the bigest and most stable group of AFOL's, so it doesn't seem either sensible or workable to try and organise an interstate convention. Of course that leaves it wide open for others to organise their own. I know they have a pretty big show in Perth each year.
