Batman values/pricing?
Does anyone know why Batman sets have rocketed in price in the last few months? Looking at the price guide on bricklink, it seems the price jumps for most sets started at around end of October/Early November. I know the minifigs are pricey and highly desired but the price of sets both old and new is ridiculous. This will probably be one theme I will be unable to finish because of the extraordinary prices - $300 for the Batcave?? Even my most expensive classic space set didnt cost me over $100. :
PS. That being said, anyone with any 06/07 Batman sets for sale at a reasonable price gimme a yell.

I guess since the Batman theme is over so yeah...that might explain the price hikes. :
If your looking for batman sets you could post a topic in the buy/sells/trade section.

$300 for the Batcave??
Dang! :O: I knew I should have got more when they came out.
I ended up getting one of every set (except the Killer Croc one) but they are all still MISB (except the Catwoman one) because of space requirements. Those prices make me feel like selling them to feed my hungry children but for some inexplicable, deep-seated psychological reason vaguely (or directly) linked to conumerism and obsessiveness I just can't bring myself to part with them......yet.

I cant believe the prices being asked for the Killer Croc set. The minifig alone costs $40 and up on bricklink!! Lucky I managed to grab the torso piece for a fair price - now I just need the head and I have myself a complete croc figure.

Re: Batman values/pricing?
This is the exact reason I gave up on collecting Star Wars stuff and moved to town/train. I didn't want the fun of playing with my lego to be tainted by the stupid prices collectors are willing to pay for MISB stuff, and didnt want to kick myself for opening and playing with my toys. Licenced franchises will lead to this shit.
I was glad when TLG started re-releasing classic sets because of the effect it had on prices, I'd be happy if they did it with the Yellow castle which I own. For me its a hobby not an investment.
Although I could almost be convinced to invest in some of the future SW or other licenced stuff, to keep MISB to fund future town purchases. On the whole though Lego isnt a good investment.

Re: Batman values/pricing?
Well, I ended up getting the Killer Croc set cheaper than buying it MISB but it meant I had to buy the pieces individually via bricklink. Including the minifigs, instructions and stickers, I paid $55 (cheaper than the $100 plus prices on bricklink and ebay). Still more expensive than buying it at retail but cheaper than secondary market prices. I'm currently chasing down pieces for Arkham Asylum and hopefully it wont cost me more than $125 complete.

Re: Batman values/pricing?
Yes. Totally amazed about Lego Batman prices. Especially MISB. Just nuts. I like the licenced sets as it can bring in some really interesting elements. But cost/ brick is obscene. I only buy when on special and I'll go to town if its clearance. such as been the case for Indy sets this christmas and now. I think Indy sets in the future won't get crazy like Batman as there are so many indy sets. But you never know...
