10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
The first rumours of a 2010 Modular Building have surfaced at Eurobricks. The rumours come from Legomilk who has in the past had reliable information. I'd guess he gets to see the preliminary photos in a retailers catalogue.
His description is that it will be a yellow and gray corner building, and consistent with the name is some sort of a shop.
Sounds good to me, and it confirms that modular buildings will continue past the original plan of three buildings.

Sounds interesting. Seems like TLC is going with old school for abit. I can't wait for pics, Could be awhile though.
Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
My guess is a couple of months before pics, but it sounds good to me! Not so good to my wallet though...I only just bought the other three!

I know how that is, I'm trying to find an affordable way to buy the Emerald Night and the Fire Station. I'd pretty much written off any hope of the Imperial Flagship, and now a new Modular building comes along

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I was very fortunate in finding a way to get all the existing modular buildings (excluding Market Street) for $500 USD including postage, a much better deal than buying them off the LEGO shop.
Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Grand Emporium eh..... sounds great! I'll wait for the photos before I decide whether I plea bargain for it with the Minister for War & Finance!

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
First reply on ANZFOL for me. Has anyone had this come to mind, since we have a modular fire house now and a new city fire station in 2010. A department store next year, maybe a supermarket or like in city. Note in the last year or so Duplo had a supermarket and they mirror past or future lego city sets.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Or maybe a police station? That could be fun, now that we have a fire station. And welcome to ANZFOL Lightningtiger, why not introduce yourself in our Introductions section so we can get to know you a little better?
Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I would like to see both a 1930's police station and a five and dime store, add to the untouchables and some gangters would be great.

I'd like to see some of the black fedora gangsters from the Indiana Jones line but with yellow heads As long as the building was interesting I'd be happy if it were a police station, but I dont really care either way. I'd like to see some Victorian Italianate architechture like Melbourne's gold boom stuff, even some simpler Georgian terraces would be nice if well done.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Photos are now up on Eurobricks. Of note 38 each of 1x2x3 and 1x2x2 windows in dark green, lots of tan, dark green awnings, Prince of Persia arches in white, 7 minifigs.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I think the grand emporium is simply stunning, a great escalator, chandelier, those white and tan arches will prove very useful, the bilboard, the pots look great and the green awning finishes it off nicely. An absolute must buy, another triumph for the modular building team at lego, and more inspiration to keep that town street expanding.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I like what I see and already I am stratching my head thinking about which way I would piece together all the modulars because like Cafe Corner it is designed in the same manner.
I'm thinking across the road on the opposite corner but like others it is a matter of playing around with it to see how the colours blend in with other modulars.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Nice images! A little too big though, took my broadband connection ages to load them, so I changed them into links. Thanks for sharing though, I'm looking forward to that set!
Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I really like the building, but I'm not sure about its contents, I might convert mine to a brew pub or something. This might be good as a parts pack depending on the price. I've been trying to stockpile tan bricks to build a station, so this might help, and therefore I might have to buy two.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I actually thought the Cafe Corner bottom floor looks like a pub. I use it as a pub rather than a cafe, I dunno, possibly just me. I just think it suits a pub more than a cafe.
Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Just seen the first signs of this great modular building beginning to arrive in Australia with one of them selling for $299.95 overnight.
Sadly, it wasn't me who secured it .

I've heard reports that bricks to the world have it, but slightly more than S@H

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
My theory is that BTTW only had one or two available for sale this past weekend because they've sold out.
I am hoping it will re-appear again because I would hate to miss out on this one in particular, it looks good.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
I doubt you'll miss out on it, I thinks there will be a few around online shops, but certainly get it ASAP!
Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Was reading another forum and the memebers were expectecting GE around November at David jones.
They also mentioned Old fire brigade coming to David Jones around March.??? Its March now... I haven't seen it in DJ's yet. I'm hoping, and wishing that when it does come to D.J.'s it will be on special too. D.J.s had Grand Corousel on special at $309 from $399. Good if you liked the Carousel.

Re: 10211 Grand Emporium Modular Building
Not sure I want it at David Jones, I'd much prefer Myer. DJ's has a nasty habit of charging about 10% more than everywhere else...

On the other hand Myer doesn't always get enough stock of exclusives, the Emerald Night sold out the first day and has never been re-stocked. I'd rathe pay slightly more and be able to buy the Grand Emporium locally and avoid shipping fees, than miss out completely.
