Re: New member from Tasmania
Just an update on the exhibition I mentioned a few weeks ago.
It's finally here, the 10th Model Makers Expo with a wide range of displays which includes a room featuring our lego.
Thankfully set up day wasn't too stressful as fellow exhibitors put their collections together with my own taking the longest as a result of choosing to build a small township from scratch whilst assisting everyone else.
Speaking of other fellow exhibitors, whilst browsing I found another display of Lego which I must say is huge with the layout comprising of both the city and train lego so expect to see quite a few photos of this weekend very soon.

Hello everybody here is the first snapshot I took of our Lego Display at the Model Makers Expo which I hope works and translates into you viewing all of the 37 photos taken during the course of the weekend.

Free Spirit, do you have your photos available anywhere other than Facebook? If not, perhaps you could upload them to the ANZFOL Facebook page? Just that as it is, we can't see the photos on a private profile. Well, that is unless you want me to hack your Facebook account...
Re: New member from Tasmania
I've posted the majority of them on the ANZFOL FACEBOOK PAGE for everyone to see which I hope brings a few smiles and raises some eyebrows.
Re: New member from Tasmania
Huge layout and well presented. I like the animal head mocs someone made up. Was that one persons entire collection? I'm impressed if it is. I like how it progresses from the harbour to the country. The fields are also great. Were they little lego flowers in the fields?
Amazing how these stormtroopers show up in the darndest of places...

Re: New member from Tasmania
The display that I put together with eight others was in the room where we had the various collections of Lego and the visits from the stormtroopers whom were a bonus having been spur of the moment.
We may have come across as a minority in comparison to the huge layout which featured the trains but we made up for it in personality by running two competitions that were fun and a success.
How many Lego mini figure passengers on the Spirit of Tasmania and Where's Wally, a custom made Lego minifigure of whom was placed in the Main Arena for someone to find which eventually was found by a young boy two hours later.
Plenty to talk about for a week I suspect !

Re: New member from Tasmania
Good idea about the Where's Wally competition. If I remember correctly you said this was your first year of attempting a Lego exhibit? Its a pretty good first year. How where the number of visitors? Was it a success financially for the club too?
was the spirit of Tasmania a cutaway similar to the Qantas plane at Melbourne? any chance of closeup pics on the spirit of Tasmania?

Re: New member from Tasmania
I estimate that 7500+ came and had a look at the Lego which was on display in the room.
The amount of how many people patronised the entire Model Expo will be known in a few days, no financial gain came our way as it's purely a fundraiser.
We have however gained some new members which should bolster our own expo scheduled for September 18th and 19th.
As for the Spirit of Tasmania it isn't a cut away and will obtain closer photos of it.

Nice display Free Spirit,
It looks like you've made a good start.
Is the Spirit of Tasmania yours, and is it the same one that came to Brickvention?

Re: New member from Tasmania
The Spirit of Tasmania was definitely at Brickvention so I am told by its owner Aaron Parker who I believe you may have met.
Re: New member from Tasmania
I almost definately have met Aaron, but between my brain being broken and BV being quite hectic, I can't put a face to the name. It's a pity that BV was such a busy time (I spent the first day quite hyper, and the second struggling to cope with the crowds), that I don't really get to know the interstate exhibitors very well despite wanting too. Each year I do try to chat with at least a couple though.
