New member from Tasmania
Hi all,
My name is Paul and I am just starting to get back my love for Lego Technic after a break over the last few years.
Ever since I can remember I have been in to Lego, first the normal "town" series and then I grew in to Technic when I was about 8 years old, ever since then I have been using it on and off but now I am keen to get right back in to it, the first step is going to be to sort it all and then start designing what I want to build.
My main area of interest is building earth moving and building equipment plus trucks and anything else I feel like.
Paul

Welcome along! My parents tried to get me into Technic by buying me 8835 for my 11th birthday. I like the funtionality of the set, but Technic just wasn't quite up my alley. Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time on the boards!!

In case you haven't noticed a fellow Tasmanian Lego enthusiast has just become a member of ANZFOL, so as a fellow statesman I will be the first to welcome shadowlego to this forum.

Free Spirit.
I'm really impressed with your club house. How do you guys manage a physical address. Thats terrific, but how do you pay the cost of rent?

Re: New member from Tasmania
As far as a clubhouse goes we certainly aren't that fortunate.
We however have meetings at the Model Park Clubrooms which is managed by the Model Makers And Collectors Association to whom I am a member.
This association conducts a Model Expo every two to three years which until now Lego has been very small.
I'm the feisty bugger who has turned that around because I am working on putting together a Lego exhibition for September 18th and 19th.
Tasmanians have the same passion as everyone else just didn't have the right man for the job until now

Re: New member from Tasmania
Sounds really cool. I hope it all goes well for you. If I lived in Tassie I'd be helping out... I don't know why there is no general Lego club in Sydney. I know of the train one but I'm an early AFOL and don't have a single train.
Keep us posted on how your exhibition is shaping up.

Re: New member from Tasmania
guymontag, if I were you, I'd check out SLTC as I'm sure even without trains they could use your skills and parts for scenery and other layout sections.
Re: New member from Tasmania
Can I just ask what do all these SLTC and other 4 letter acronyms actually mean I can't remember then all. I surely cant be the only one who is confused by them then again I probilly am

Re: New member from Tasmania
SLTC = Sydney LEGO Train Club.
You can usually tell that "LTC" is "LEGO Train Club" and "LUG" is "LEGO Users Group". These are the most common groups of LEGO groups, although some are "LEGO Train Groups" just to be confusing.

Well in fact they're going through interesting times as some of the train guys are trying to form a pure train group, while many others are continuing as a general lego club. The place to find them is still the SLTC email list on Yahoo groups.

Thanks for the link guys. I'll check it out. I thought they were just pure Lego Trains and hadn't bothered.
