Hobby or Passion or Interest What is the difference? Is there a difference?
This is something I have written on the differences between hobbies, passions and interests and how they relate to the LEGO hobby which some people might find interesting.

Paul,
I agree with your definitions. I believe that LEGO building is a sometimes consuming passion for me. When you have to sweep all the LEGO blocks off the dinning room table into a box so that your visitors can eat, then I believe it is a passion.

Hi Paul.
It's a very interesting topic to raise, especially in how you categorise passion by the extent of public exposure, group involvement and use of social media.
There's an element of truth in how you put it, and it's made me question how I see what I do, which is mostly private, domestic and quite individual. Where it strays into passion is the level of adjustment I am making to accommodate my building and collecting. However, it's early days (three years on, LOL) and we'll see where, if anywhere, it leads.
In the next 6 months I intend to wrap up the phase of making space, take stock of parts I've assembled, and see to some overdue house repairs thereafter, building in my spare time. One of the reasons I started a WIP progress blog was to achieve an outlet while i couldn't build. Slow but steady progress.
