CALG? What is it?
I was reading the Cycle 7 LEGO Ambassador list when I noticed a David Furphy from Australia representing CALG. So my question is this: what is CALG, and where is it? No internet searches have turned anything up for me, so I really have no idea.

Nobody at the Melbourne Lego User Group (MUGS) or Sydney Lego Train Club (SLTC) knows either, Sue Anne the MUGS ambassador said she will find out for us, so I'll pass on anything I hear.

She hasn't said so, I'll give here a nudge on the MUGS list to see ...

Re: CALG? What is it?
Sorry to bump a relatively old topic for some relatively old news, but reading this might shed some light on this issue.
I just heard about all of this via LUGnet.

Re: CALG? What is it?
Well we were trying to be discreet about it. At the time Sue Ann asked me to keep it quite, so I PM'ed Zuloo about it, but also asked him not to spread it online.
Part of the difficulty is that we have no proof who did it, and if it was someone other than Ritchie, then he's getting smeared because his name was used on the application.
ETA. By the way CALG stood for Central Australia Lego Group, but apart from David Furphy's application it doesn't appear to exist.

Re: CALG? What is it?
Ah, conspiracy time! I can't say I understand why someone would want to screw around with the Ambassador program, but I think whoever it was did it rather well using "Furphy" as the surname. Still, I think this is something we'll never be entirely sure about, because while I applaude whoever is responsible for this joke, the majority of people will be annoyed by it.
Re: CALG? What is it?
Well, unfortunately the 'joke' meant that another applicant may have missed out on a position as ambassador. A number of people were very hurt by the whole affair.

Re: CALG? What is it?
Well let us hope it doesn't happen again, we shouldn't be passing up opportunities to be heard by TLG!
Re: CALG? What is it?
I was happy to see more Aussie ambassadors though
