Old Aussie Lego stop motion movie
Came across this whilst checking youtube. Was made between 85 and 89 by an Aussie named Lindsay Fleay using 16mm film.. Kind of amazing when you think about how far ahead it was of the pack.

Oh wow! that was the most incredible Lego stop motion film I've ever seen. Brilliant, brilliant absolutely brilliant.
The liquid paper bottle Daleks were a particular favorite, but with it being such s great piece of film there were so many great moments it's really hard to pick out just one.

Re: Old Aussie Lego stop motion movie
Some mates of mine made StarLego in 1990 and The Magic Portal was credited as inspiration. I did some other stuff with them, but didn't work much on this, I did take one frame of the Princess Leia melting scene, and helped blowing her out and relighting her for a few frames. We were laughing pretty hard as we were doing it.
Back then we used some serious hardware to do this sort of stuff. It was initially filmed on a semi pro video camera, then a pro video deck which allowed the lifting and re-recording of single frames was used with a digital frame capture card. They were then able to add digital effects and drop the frames back in place. The only reason we had access to this equipment was they worked for a computer graphics company.
