Review - 60017 Flatbed Truck
Hi all! Welcome to my next City review for 2013, the Flatbed Truck. I bought this as I thought that this set looks pretty cool, with heaps of playability. In addition, my City lacked a flatbed to tow away cars. I bought it from Myer on sale for $24. Both the car and truck were fairly easy to assemble. It takes about 30 minutes to go together and the whole set looks pretty good once finished.
Name: Flatbed Truck
Theme: City
Year: 2013
Pieces: 212
Minifigs: 2
Price: AUD $29.99 (S@H)
The front of the box.
The back of the box.
The contents.
Some new parts (for me anyway!)
Another angle of those parts, so you can see the little lip on the black part.
Last new part.
The car completed. I love this colour, it looks great.
Front-on shot of the car.
These new parts were lurking in the second bag.
Another shot of new parts #2!
The location of that new brick.
I was suprised the TLG used this brick, as I had assumed that it would hold the front on a.k.a. SNOT technique. As this shot shows though, it was a bit pointless in the end.
This shot shows how TLG explain how to hook onto a vehicle.
The completed set.
As always, there's spares let over!
The flatbed tilted up.
This new part escaped me until the end!!
Overall shot of the truck.
Overall, I think this is a pretty cool set. It has been well designed and has plenty of accessories for the price. Both the truck and the car look pretty good and the colour selection of both vehicles is pretty good as well, particularly the car. It functions like it should, just a shame that you can't get the stranded passenger into the truck cab as well, she'll just have to wait for a taxi!! A simple bit of MOC'ing should remedy that though.
This set certainly is a great addition to anyone's City layout, particularly if you're lacking a tow truck / recovery vehicle.
I reccommend this set!
Enjoy!

Re: Review - 60017 Flatbed Truck
Cool review, - both the car and the truck are useful vehicles and with the car being in that great new colour I can predict it will be popular. I can see the truck being used as the basis for building other types of truck that might be found in a city environment.

Great review 'MB', it's a nice set....though in real life the bed slides back and cars are wider than 4 studs plus those big wheels.....
Always handy to score another female minifig right ?
