Hi all! Welcome to the next installment of my City reviews, the Recycling Truck. I bought this as it is another one of the latest additions in the City line. As soon as I saw it in the catalogue, I thought that this would be fantastic for my City. I bought it from K-Mart on sale for $39.00. There were three bags, each containing their own sub-model, which is great for construction. There were two books, book 1 built the bins and the truck, while book 2 had the forklift. All up it took the best part of 45 minutes to assemble and looks a treat when all put together.

Name: Recycling Truck
Theme: City
Year: 2012
Pieces: 297
Minifigs: 3
Price: AUD $49.99 (S@H)

The contents. In addition to the bags and books, there is a seperate plate and a sticker sheet.

Some new pieces, well at least for me anyway. First, the new roof part and the trans clear bottle.

These pieces were found in the forklift bag.

This shot was taken to show the difference in the green pieces. The plates are a much darker green as opposed to the bricks, tiles and roof piece.

Overall, I think this is a great kit. It has been well designed and has plenty of accessories a play potential for the price. All of the components look realistic and I could quite easily picture a real setup like this. For me, the only gripe would be the lack of a hi-ab arm on the truck. Without this, the forklift has to follow the truck everywhere to either load or unload the bins. I don't know if TLG worked one up in the design phase; it may have been too complicated and would've increased the price of the set.

This, however, is my only gripe. This set is a great addition to anyone's City layout and would work really well at a concert or some other large activity staged within one's City.

I reccommend this set!

Enjoy!

Looks like a pretty nice set. It would certainly fit well into my city.

Nice review, a very handy set and could be modified into a transport design.

I'm surprised LEGO has released both a garbage truck and recycling truck in the same year, but good on them for doing so.

I agree about the design of the truck being unusual, in real life the recycling trucks i've seen are just like garbage trucks... all the recycling gets thrown into one large container rather than extremely large bins.
