Mr May's toy series has been interesting. I watched them some time ago. I liked the train and slotcar episode's the most.
The Lego house came out better than I thought but was still a waste of millions of bricks. Just imagine what you could build with all of those.

Yes I liked it. But that "furniture expert" wasn't exactly good with bricks. Those chairs where awful. I was pretty impressed with the upper story though.

I didn't watch it.. Was it ever explained why they did alternating stripes of colour. They could have done panels of primary colour, rather than stripes or something creative.

Its typical of what kids do. They'll pick up a big plate and do a circumference of one colour then another colour and then another colour. example, checkout the latest Lego club magazine.

Yeah they had an interior designer work on it. She loved the stripes. When they got low on bricks the builders added a line of brown.
When she saw it she freaked and made them tear down row after row until the brown was gone.

They should have gotten advice from some Lego master builders. Maybe then the toilet wouldn't have been square.

A week or so ago I bought the DVD of the series and have watched all the episodes which concluded last night (Wednesday 5th of May 2010).

I personally have rated four out of the six episodes as very good however
as for the Plasticine and the Meccano I found it interesting however it failed to grab my attention to go buy or play with it.

The Meccano episode came across as the worst of the lot with the fact they built a swinging bridge that James couldn't get across without the support of a safety harness.
It didn't seem to get the point across very well for me to enjoy what they were trying to achieve which I think had a lot to do with its presentation.

At least in the Lego episode he tried to put his weight on the furniture and the support structures which broke into pieces.
It grabbed my attention because its designed to do that and I could see that James was enjoying himself, I also laughed a few times whilst watching this episode which helps.

Admittedly I was expecting the Lego episode to be a bit boring because of what I had read on this forum however thankfully it didn't and so I have ranked it with the Scalextric as one of my two favourite episodes.
