MOC: New Zealand DX 5195 train
I built this a few days ago, being my first train MOC that can actually run on LEGO rails. It's a New Zealand DX 5195 diesel-electric locomotive.

I didn't know what in interior looks like so I just made it up

Here it is on a curve

It can get round, but because the bogies are a big long the train runs slightly stiff round turns

Thanks for viewing!

Great job Captain Havoc! For a first train MOC that runs on L gauge, I'm impressed to see that you have gone head first into 8-wide. It looks very nice. Your SNOT door is also a very impressive feature, and I like your bogies. You did however mention that your bogies are a little stiff, that is because they have 1 stud between each wheel set. Perhaps try building a bogie with the wheels next to each other, no stud space. That will allow your train to run much more smoothly. Is it powered in any way?
Re: MOC: New Zealand DX 5195 train
No, Its not powered. I don't have the new rechargeable power functions and I can't afford the batteries for the RC battery box. I'm hoping to get power functions when I get the Emerald Night. I'll try the bogie suggestion though.

Or space the wheels with half a stud. That will also run well on the tight Lego radius curve.
There was a few peices that were out of alignment or needed seating properly (ie. plates at rear).
This always happens when taking photo's.
Nice MOC the door was a good idea. Lots of detail in the Cab.
Re: MOC: New Zealand DX 5195 train
I really like the cab and the brick built numbers. There are a number of bogie designs on the flickr train group which allow the middle axle to float which will relieve the stiffness around corners.

Great looking loco. 8 wide lets you get more detail in the cab. Here is a link to some 6 wide trains (including a Da and a Dc) I built over 10 years ago Click here

I really like this. Great cab details as mentioned by everyone else, Nice use of stickers too. It looks solid, just like the real deal.
