Some stats on the engine

The model is a mix between the 1400 and the 1450 class as I could not find detailed photos of either class in the public domain so I had to flip between the two. Wuiske Models is a good reference point.

Not too sure about the panelling for the engine cowl, though, but I was experimenting with including the access panels rather than a blank wall.

Hi Wayne,

I think the access panels work quite well, overall this is a nice model. I'd be inclined to make the petrol tank curved if possible, and replace the blue grill bricks for dark bluish grey.

Do you plan on building this with real bricks? If so be sure to add photos here.

You should also add a pic to the LEGO train Mocs group on Flickr

I was looking at the dark bley, but for a prototype design I went with the blue.

Had another look at a couple of the images, and you are right, there is a slight curve top and bottom - it is hardly noticeable in the some of the photos because of the the lighting.

As for building it for real, that is the intention as I have already started designing a layout for it and the 1720 class.

To add some of these images to the LEGO Train Mocs group, do I not need to be invited or do I just make the submission?

All you have to do is join the group to add a pictures.

But you need a Flickr account before you can join any of the groups. You can register on Flickr for free.

I have gone back and redesigned the 1450 to now include a PF M Motor in the cowling along with panels that swing open.

It has been designed to allow the motor to drive either the front or rear bogie sets but also to allow air to flow through to help with heat generated by the motor's friction.

All I need to do now is work out how to power a PF motor from the 9V feed of the tracks.

That sounds really interesting, you're going to end up with a unique loco MOC when you've built your 1450.

Someone on EB recently had devised a way of picking up power from 9volt track by using coarse scale metal wheels intended for '0' gauge.
