Hello. I am starting to get back into my LEGO building, particularly the train side of things - always had an interest in trains ever since I was a kid.

I took a bit of artistic license to the model, it is a composite of several 1720 class engines covering the early and late constructions. The brolga wings sit a bit low for the moment, but hopefully when I get to build it I will fix that.

I also have a 1400/1450 Class that I am tidying up in LDD that I will upload when done - again it is a composite.

Looks pretty good Wayne, I was wondering if the QR part means it's a local Queensland Rail train? (Sorry my real life train knowledge is pretty bad)

A very tidy loco Wayne. It should look good once it's built in bricks LDD MOC: QR 1720 Class 414665

For reference, heres the (very rusted and and weathered) prototype:

Of course they are a Queensland Rail unit. To the extent of my knowledge, all the blue/white units haved been withdrawn or scrapped.

Thanks for the prototype picture which helps a lot with getting a better idea of the loco you're intending to build.

Another source for prototype photos I found through Google: http://wuiskemodels.com/prototype/index.php

They make mostly HO and HOn3.5 scale models, but they have an extensive photo collection.

When I was going out to Ipswich years ago, the train would pass by Redbank workshop - I thought it was disgusting to see these and others rusting away.

Has anyone built any of the modern QR trains like the tilt? Would love to see if so!
